JUCO QB Matt Simms -- all Vol

no offense to Coach O (because he's great at seeing D talent) but he also thought Schaeffer was an SEC qb.

Plus if we listened to message boards we would have a Pirate as our head coach :whistling:

Not only did he think Schaeffer was an SEC QB, he bet his job on Schaeffer being an SEC QB.

Did i hear this right? While sports animal was talking with matt sims on the radio, he mentioned that bruce irvin was coming to tennessee as well. So did he switch is commitment back to us? this would be huge. Simms was talking about how fast he was. He played against him in JUCO and Simms also said that Thompkins will be a huge deep threat.

Irvin is coming to Tennessee for a visit. Some think that he'll recommit, but nothings in stone yet i think.

Sounds like things are starting to look a little better for next year. At least we have two quarterbacks with a little experience to choose from. If we can grab some maturity/talent on the Oline we may be in better shape than I thought.

I guess by some miracle he suddenly turned into a SEC qb over night...He must have, coach Kiffin wouldn't have recruited just a warm body now would he?

Crompton went from the worst UT QB of my lifetime to one of the best in the SEC under Kiffin.

Simms wouldn't be a Vol if he were just a warm body. We already have 3 other QBs for 2010. It's not like Lamaison where we just had to take who we could get because we needed another QB for practice.

I'm glad to see him coming to the hill...it means Bray will have time to put on weight so he won't get snapped in half when he gets hit by an SEC defensive end.

What exactly does Simms bring to the table? Is he supposed to be really good, or is this just a flyer on a kid with a big name? How big is he? I was encouraged by the Lamaison signing, and then you hear two months later that he's a piker. One never knows what to make of JC signings!

I will add this: If Simms has good physical skills, Stephens may not have a chance competing against the son of an nfl star, especially since LK has shown he likes to play his signees.

Way to support a volunteer. I am sure you were one of the guys giving death threats to crompton as well.

No, I knew Crompton had the talent, just not the mental capacity. Kiffin worked him through it and polished the diamond. Simms is a piece of coal and doesnt really have any skills of note to build on.

Some of you people are amazing. I heard Crompton trashed from the same geniuses who are trashing Simms. You trashed Arian who did make some critical fumbles, but is playing on Sunday. Ingram made a critical fumble against us and won the Heisman. If you think you sound smart or funny, you are just whistling out of your azz. I believe some of you are trolls or just mad at the world.

I don't believe the coaches would recruit this guy for no reason. They either see potential, wanted to push the other QBs or could be a strategy to recruit other players. I trust their judgment more than some of our so called fans.

So I take it you are being interviewed for the new talent evaluator jobs?

After what he did with JC, I'll give CLK the benefit of the doubt when it comes to qbs. I honestly didn't think JC could be saved. He had me screaming and cursing at my TV. But CLK turned him around. So he has my trust in this.

Question of the day: Will Chris Simms be brave enough to come watch little brother play? :D

What type offense did Simms run at his JC? Just wondering if it is very similar to ours and that might give him a leg up coming in?

Since no one else wanted him makes me wonder if he was able to pull in someone else. Sign him to get some other talent? Thought those schollies were like gold.

Kenbrell Thompkins was his JUCO teammate. I don't think the Simms offer has anything to do with that though.
