Taylor, a senior who has spent the past two seasons with the Gators, will explore new options while also pursuing an additional season of college eligibility.

During the 2025 season, Taylor played a steady rotational role for Florida. He appeared in all 12 games and finished the year with 24 total tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks, while also forcing a fumble and adding multiple quarterback pressures. Several of his most productive outings came against ranked opponents, including Texas, LSU and Ole Miss, where he was consistently part of Florida's interior rotation.

At just under 300 pounds, Taylor provided the Orange and Blue with depth and physicality along the defensive front. While he wasn't a full-time starter, his snap count reflected a trusted role within the rotation, particularly as Florida worked through injuries and personnel changes throughout the season.

hope we aren’t too late. We should go all out here. Specimen, can play across the line, could fill a big need for next year.

Tennessee will learn more about junior college defensive linemen Brien Taylor and Kemari Copeland during their official visits this weekend as it will be their first time on campus. Taylor was at Georgia last weekend, and the Bulldogs have positioned themselves as the front-runner in this recruitment, in our estimation. However, he has remained adamant Tennessee is among his top schools and he’s open in the process, so this will be an opportunity for the Vols to make a move.

“The visit, really, I liked everything about it, especially on the football end,”

“Coach Heup took me bowling. They really pour into you over there, so Tennessee for sure is going up in the ranks, one of my top schools, for sure.

“We’re just going to see how my decision’s going to go after my last visit. That’s when I’m going to make my decision. I like everything about it.”

“I ain’t going to say the schools right now, but it’s kind of, like, back-and-forth. But Tennessee’s got a good chance of getting me, for sure.”

Taylor said Tennessee defensive line coach Rodney Garner is “the best in the business,”

“He’s got, like, 34 years of SEC experience, so he’s got exactly what I’m looking for and what I need,” Taylor said. “I’m a direct-impact guy, so I come in, make a direct impact, get to work. They’ve got everything I need. I just like everything about Tennessee.

“What I like about (Garner): He’s going to tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. I don’t want to hear what I want to hear. I need the criticism to really elevate my game.

“I need to hear what people don’t want to hear. That’s how you really elevate.”

“I’d never even been to Tennessee. I didn’t know what it was going to be like,” he said. “I thought Knoxville, it sounded like a college town to me, for real. But it’s, like, an actual city. But the city, they pour it all into Tennessee, Tennessee athletics, the tailgating.

“The stadium, they broke the decibel record, so it was rocking. It was most definitely a place I can play at, for sure.”

Brien Taylor checked all of the boxes physically during his Tennessee visit, and it is easy to see why he has the list of suitors he has. Tennessee made an impression over the weekend, but this one has a way to go, in our estimation. He still has several visits and multiple in-home visits left before a decision is made. This one will likely have some twists and turns along the way.

Florida was “pouring into” the four-star defensive end from Brenham (Texas) Blinn CC over the weekend and the Gators are definitely a major player now more than ever in Taylor’s recruitment. The message to Taylor was they not only like his game but also his character and energy and he could be a good addition to Florida’s locker room. Tennessee and Georgia are the other two to watch.
