I think this really just says Pruitt is confident of his talent and depth in the secondary and doesn't feel the need for an immediate fix versus bringing in 4 year players who may take a year or two to be ready to contribute. You see the opposite with the WR group and the willingness to take transfers for a year to give the freshmen a year to develop, especially in the weight room. The job he's done rebuilding the talent level of the team in 3 years is impressive.
I don't like to speak ill of these young men, because I have no idea what their support system is like (if it even exists), but going from SEC commit to not even qualifying for college is objectively a screw up. I hope he gets whatever help he needs, because this is not a trajectory of success.
Getting them to class is the problem. They pretty much made that clear in S1 of the show. It’s not that they’re dumb at all it’s the I’ll skate by and play ball mentality.
