Byrd 3 catches for 60 yards
Smith 3 catches for 4 yards

Smith is starter and had two or three drops (like always).

Drops kill drives and result in lost games.

Don't get me started on Malone.

When will start playing ONLY the best players we have?

You've been wrong on Smith all night. Time to find something else

Byrd, Jennings, and x need to get the majority of the snaps. Malone looked indifferent out there.

loved the two back sets with AK and Kelly in the backfield. Kelly will be a great one for us. Looked like Travis Henry, AKA Cheese, IMO.

Agree with you OP, Byrd needs more playing time. Malone and Smith both had too many drops today. Jennings and Byrd want yards after and fight for it.

Agreed about Smith, lots of folks really like the young man as he's a local product and on a personal level he's probably a great kid. He's not an SEC caliber receiver, he's just not.

Smith has the ability to make big plays.... we've all seen him do it. The screen isn't a strong suit for him though

Smith is usually good with catches. Malone has too many tonight. Hopefully he makes up for it against Bama. We'll need him.

Do we? I'd prefer JJ and Byrd to get the ball. Even Johnson made a play for us late...

Croom might be the softest 6'6" 250lb player I've ever seen. I say that knowing he would rip my head off and spit down my neck.

Malone had a bad game.....and yes he got mugged a couple of times. Tyler Byrd, he just plays hard......probably deserves more playing time and touches. Smith a bit inconsistent, has games like Malone did tonight.

No I've been dead on. Smith had 3 catches for 4 yds. And the thread is about who should play more--Smith vs Byrd. There's simply no comparison. Byrd could be ALL-SEC. He had 3 catches for 60 yds.

Let's see who starts and plays more going fwd between the 2.

Maybe Byrd isn't always where he's supposed to be? Ever think of that? It's fairly obvious Byrd is more athletic, but he may not have full grasp of his role yet.

I say give Byrd more touches right now. He has the hot hand. The screens to Smith have not been thrown well by Dobbs. Byrd has a very promising future here. At the same time, let's not forget what Smith has done for us the last couple of years.

I'm good with just scrapping the bubble screens altogether. But you're right, Smith can contribute in his own way, but a screen pass aint it.

Smith is not the receiver we saw last year. Looks like he has lost a step and definitely is having trouble catching the damn football. Malone is soft and can't catch a cold. He does not like to be hit, watch it for yourself.
