Josh Smith review?

From what I've see so far, the reviews have seriously changed the flow of the game. It's a huge disadvantage to teams that run uptempo offense. They're trying too hard to control the outcome of the game. I say stop the reviews and roll with it. Bad calls and all.

The ball clearly hit the ground first. I noticed it on the initial play in real time. The refs got it right and did what they should have done in reviewing it. UT tried to hurry up to prevent a review but the refs had already signaled for a review.

You completely guessed regarding your last sentence. The right call was made upon review, but there was absolutely, positively zero sign that the replay officials had signaled down. We lined up, ran the play, completed the play and were beginning to line up for the next play when they said they wanted to review. There were no whistles, no refs running in toward the line of scrimmage, no arm waving, no nothing.

Exactly..anytime I've seen a ref try to stop a play, they come running in with the whistle blowing.

I've come to despise the replay system. I'm ready to go back and just live with the fact that some plays will just be called wrong. I don't give an ish. They get is wrong 50+% of the time after reviewing anyway. Hell, nobody even knows what a catch is anymore. Bunch of blithering idiots.

The replay officials in the booth override the officials on the field. Just because a team runs up to the line and quickly runs a play before the replay officials make their determination to review, doesn't make it a play. If App St. had dropped the pass, which the UT receiver clearly did (I noticed it in real time), and ran up to the line and ran a quick play, you'd all be complaining. The refs got it right.
