Josh Selby Decommits from Tennessee

Maybe I am over-reacting, but I am not feeling very good about this right now. I've been looking forward to getting his type of talent on campus for what seems like forever now. The fact that he had PG by his name made me look all the more forward to it.

I know that there were some questions about his attitude...but you have to think that its a chance you're willing to take when you are UT. This has to be a pretty hard blow....any chance we pick up a re-commitment?

Hat looks like a genius. His relentless doubt of Pearl is coming to fruition.

Actually, Hat has never been a big fan of Selby due to some attitude concerns. He knows some people he considers to be reliable sources, and they didn't think too highly of Selby.

I would still wait it out you guys, and see it become official. However if true, sorry to hear it for you guys on the same hand. Thats a loss you don't want, attitude or not.

good riddance...word is that he's doing this because we're an adidas team and he feels like a nike team will help him get into the league easier. any kid that will decommit from a school due to their sponsor is not a kid i want on my team.

I have no idea why he de-committed, but in general, I get so tired of the sponsorship influences in college ball, if they are as pronounced as they are made out to be. For example, the kids from Memphis not making it in for our camp because we are an Adidas school...

I wouldn't hold that against Josh Selby all that much, though...all kinds of people are in these kids ears...and they are just that, kids...and impressionable.

So Kansas has never put kids in the league? This kid is an idiot.

If he had the opportunity to coach in a Christian tournament, would it make difference? Fact is Shelby would have left if Pearl was in the US or not in the US.

Probably not, but it doesn't change the fact.

and what is that fact? That Pearl should have never left? That's like saying coach K should have never left Duke to coach the Olympic team. That's ridiculous! If this kid really decommited because of the type of shoes we wear at UT then I'd rather not have him, talent or no talent. Kids that think like that have no commitment to a team either way, he would be more like a locker room cancer. Pearl has been a great recruiter since he has been here so I have my faith in him that he will turn this all around, either with selby or without him. There is still plenty of time...

Still waiting for him to land his first NBA caliber recruit. His recruiting has been atrocious.

Please don't compare the Maccabiah games to the Olympics.

This blows big-time. That 2010 class looked really promising, but Selby was the primary reason it looked so great. To be a big gun we realistically need to get at least 1-2 five star guys for 2010. We just need to find a PG that can get the job done for us, they don't have to be major recruits, just someone that can handle, distribute, and defend.

Even though we didn't see that '08 recruiting class bring much to fruition last year, we put together a damn good recruiting class late in the year. It looks like he may need to pull a few late ones out again.

So is it time for congress to step in and tear down Nike like they did Microsoft? It's freaking rediculous that a kid cares more about the shoes on his feet than the opportunity to win championships, there's not a whole lot Bruce can do about that. I'm proud of all the haters that decided to show up and bash our coach today.
