PG Josh Selby makes announcement at Jordan game

ESPNU 100 point guard Josh Selby ended months of speculation on Saturday during the Jordan Brand Classic when he committed to the Kansas Jayhawks.

Selby chose KU over Tennessee, Kentucky, UConn and Syracuse.

I am rather annoyed at the fact that, according to Hat, Calapari and Calhoun tag-teamed to make sure there was no way Pearl ended up with Selby. Negative recruiting at its best/worse, I guess. It really makes you wonder if Pearl will ever be able to consistently get top 10 guys if there are that many people out there gunning for him.

At least he didn't do a very good job of getting him to his own school.

Just making sure he didn't end up at UT was probably enough for him. Calapari is a good enough recruiter to know that he wasn't going to get him over Pearl, is my guess....so the next best thing was to make sure that Bill Self did.

I actually think he is making a visit to Florida before he makes it official. He has been a heavy UK lean for a long time so I'm assuming nothing has changed.

O yeah well they can have there class they learned this year you can't go all the way with 1 and dones.

I thought I heard Jay Williams say he had another visit with Florida before he made his choice. I don't know though, I quit watching when Selby committed.

Didn't waste my time worrying about Selby today. Knew he was not coming to us and glad didn't waste time watching.

I didn't bother to watch either...things just weren't looking good. However, I definitely checked back in once I got home tonight just in case...I personally think it was close, but we just couldn't overcome the negative recruiting. We didn't lose out by much, it seems.

Man...what could have been next year. Hopefully we will get sufficient PG play to still put together a great season.

Really don't blame you but I was also interested in watching Harrison Barnes as well. I know he's UNC bound but I wanted to see if he really is the best player in the country and I do believe he is after watching just 10 minutes of that game.
