Josh Richardson starting?

I have to admit that if McBee and Richardson start, I will be a little surprised. However, it makes for a solid and athletic bench. If they're really deserving, that will be awesome. But how often is your first lineup the one you stick with by the end of the season?

Not very often. But I do think it speaks volumes about the development in the offseason for this team. We've heard about every single player improving and bulking or leaning up. Here's to a good year!

If he has improved his offensive game to a respectable level, his defense will get him floor time. If not, as I have previously mentioned, I see him as a potential transfer candidate, only because as a former top-150 guy, I think he believes he can play and start somewhere.

If he can hit 3s and that pull up jumper that he had last year then he should see the floor.

You guys are over thinking this starting lineup. I believe Martin is wanting 2 strings that are balanced. One string post dominated, the other floats to the wing dominated.

For me, whatever Coach Zo thinks is best is what should be done. He knows what to do and who to do it with.

IMO there will be numerous starting line ups with Golden and Stokes the common denominators on all of them until Maymon gets back, at which time he will join them.

I think Richardson has a chance to be really special. He's so athletic; if he applies himself this season I think he could be a true lockdown defender for us. I have no problem with him starting.

As for McBee, I didn't realize the NCAA granted people 19 years of eligibility. Seriously, I thought he graduated last year. But hey, if he can hit those 3's, he can stay as long as he wants and you won't hear a peep out of me.

I assume you are referring to Dr. Skykar McBee?

I'm gonna have to see a much improved offensive side of Richardson to think he gets major starting minutes this year.

I really like McRae coming off the bench. Hoping for a JP type of impact. 6th man award!

I liked JP in the tourney. He was really frustrating to me for a couple of weeks before we went dancing.

Kent Williams' evaluation on Josh Richardson, posted on utsports.com:

"At this point in time, Josh has made the biggest stride on the team from where he was last year. He has dominated several practices. He is shooting the ball at a high clip from 3-point range, and his mid-range pull-up is probably his best weapon. But he's also learned how to use his length and athleticism to be more productive. He is attacking more aggressively off the dribble and finishing in a variety of ways at the rim. We also feel he can be one of the premier defensive stoppers in the SEC. He's a high-energy guy that comes to compete every day. The work he has put in during the offseason is really showing."

if that holds true, we may go from having a good season to a great season....cant wait for them to get started.

I read somewhere, can't remember where....they told Richardson he wasn't allowed to use his pull up J...it was his go to so they took it away, wanted to see him drive the lane and try to dunk everything..look forward to seeing the progress these guys have made.

I've seen this a lot in our coach speak.
We were paralyzed last season against the zone defense.
Had no one who could penetrate.
With Richardson, Moore, The Q and Edwards, we've got 4 this season.
Watch out Ole Miss.

we dont know how good they will penetrate a defense, we havent even seen Moore, Q, and Edwards play. Richardson may have improved but he still has to prove it against good competition.
