Josh Richardson preparing for shot at NBA Draft

I like to view Josh as a Jimmy Butler/Tony Allen type in the league. Now, who's providing the roids?

Seriously, good luck to him. He has improved in some way every year. If that continues he'll be a great CJ Watson type role player for a while. If not, he's still gonna make money playing a game.

Where do I sign?

The second best SG in the league? No pressure Josh, I thought my Stephen Jackson comparison was high praise. Lol

I said I like to view him as their type, not that I expect him to be them. lol

If he becomes a role player for somebody I'll be tickled orange.

You preach about Tyndall's all star recruting but you are saying how are we going to replace a Cuonzo recruit...how come Tyndall didn't leave us a replacement for Richardson? I'll be listening.

It wouldn't shock me if that poster is DT himself, Justin Phillips or some family member. He is too homerish toward DT it's ridiculous. No Long term TN fan would be this attached to a one yr HC that brought more NCAA issues. Everyone else wiped their hands of the mess and moved on

It wouldn't surprise me but he was here before DT was hired. I'm pretty sure he just likes attention.

Richardson probably won't get drafted, but I believe he will find a spot in the NBA and stick around for many years. I think Josh has Tony Allen written all over him. Josh is a few inches taller, and has a better jump shot on him IMO. He an be just as pesky on D as in Allen too.

I was thinking more on the lines of a Jimmy Butler comparison. There are not many on TA's level defensively in the league right now. And, I think there will be a roster spot for Josh sometime soon. He may have to take the non direct route to the NBA but I think enentually he will make it.

Butler averaged 20 this year. I hope Jrich can do half that.

But there are a lot of guys on Butler's level? He's a top 3 SG.

It took Butler 4-5 years to get to this point. He is a career 11PPG guy. Looking at the crop of SG's, he is arguably a top 5 SG TODAY. I see a lot of similarities of when he first came in the league and Josh today.

Butler has been a bad dude since halfway through his second season, people are just now noticing cause he's scoring/shooting more. I like Josh but its extremely doubtful that he's the second best SG in the NBA by his 4th year. On the plus side SG is the weakest position in the NBA.

Saw this from Chris Dortch. I'm pulling for Josh.

cdortch: Tue 08:55pm Former Tennessee guard Josh Richardson in California working on jump shot range and ball handling as he prepares for shot at NBA Draft.

Love me some JRich! One of my alltime favorite Vols in any sport. Pulling like hell for that kid.

I agree. Quality person, great competitor, versatile, athletic - worth a shot on a NBA roster somewhere.

Learning behind Tony Allen, and being his eventual replacement would be nice for J Rich. The Griz, Hawks, or Spurs would be the best fit for Richardson.

I would love for the Grizzlies to draft Richardson, but they don't have a 2nd round draft selection this year. I guess they could always put some type of deal together like they did last season to get Stokes, and still end up with Richardson when it's all said and done. The reports out of Memphis is that their staff was really impressed with Richardson after he had a practice session with them.

This article is a little dated considering it was published on the 16th. Anyways, in this article it has Richardson being drafted in the 2nd round with the 58th selection by the Philadelphia 76ers. I really, really hope Richardson does in fact get drafted by someone, even if it's the very last pick. It's nice to know he is at least on NBA teams radar.

Josh had workout with Cavs earlier in the week and is at Houston today. There are a lot of trades of second round picks so it is impossible to know who will be drafting at what slot but Josh has helped himself. He should get invited to play on a summer league team with a chance to make someone's roster even if not drafted.

Josh on the radio now...he was at Game 6 of the NBA Finals, worked out for the Cavs the next day...said he had 18 work outs, some teams twice...his agent thinks he could be picked anywhere between 20's to 40's, but prepared for anything...his agent is only 27...gonna watch the draft with his family...siap...
