Actually neither the Florida nor Nebraska rosters had as many elite players. What you keep ignoring is the fact we had been recruiting a roster full of elite players for an entire decade before Fulmer was head coach. Heupel didn't have that model to fall back on and is having to build the program, something Fulmer didn't have to do as head football coachYou're not going to compete for championships without dudes, period! You think Fulmer lost to Spurrier all those times simply because Spurrier was a better coach? Spurrier had a roster full of terrific players too. Give him his old Duke roster and see how many times he beats Fulmer in the 90's. Florida was just as talent-stacked as we were back then. Do you think Nebraska curb-stomped us twice in the 90's because Tom Osborne is a coaching savant? No! Those teams were destroyers!
Agree, I beg them to yell, does no good.I get angry when people aren’t all yelling around me on Defense. But most of the games I’ve been to have objectively louder than anywhere else I’ve been. Oklahoma’s stadium was not even halfway as loud as Neyland this past year. There’s times where the collective body of fans can actually be the difference. We can do that against Georgia
Maybe not AS many as Fulmer, but they had enough to where the differences didnt matter. Im not saying Huep has to get the #1 class every year. But he has to get closer than he has been getting. Top 15 wont cut it. Ideally, top 5 is where you need to be to have enough horses to compete. But at the very least, you need to be inside the top 10 every year with a top 5 class here and there. But even aside from his high school recruiting, its his lack of urgency in the transfer portal that puzzles me even more.Actually neither the Florida nor Nebraska rosters had as many elite players. Let's see how the upcoming season plays out with a new QB. With the dumpster fire Heupel inherited, he's been more than adequate with recruiting and transfer portal management.Maybe not AS many as Fulmer, but they had enough to where the differences didnt matter. Pate is High on Tennessee as a program. He was high on us with Pruitt. Maybe not towards the end, but he was always preaching back then that Tennessee could become elite again. He loves college football and I think he understands how important Tennessee is to college football history. When everyone was saying we were in a bad place to recruit, he was the one pointing out that in a 3 hour radius we could pretty much get to almost every fertile ground in recruiting. And he’s right. I know he’s high on Heupel, but he’ll always be high on the VAWLSPate has seemed to be pretty high on the Vols under heupel, I also think he’s fairly unbiased and correct on most of his takes on college football in general.
The fact EA keeps ranking Tennessee so low in terms of talent and stadium noise is puzzling. We’re rated the same overall as Auburn for the second year in a row and our stadium is still at 12.
You are correct. There wouldn’t ever even be a discussion if the other half participated. I’ve sat all over Neyland in my lifetime and seen this firsthand. When I got my season tickets close to the student section, there was zero doubt. And I could hear the difference when I sat with friends on the opposite side of the stadium. Just crazy difference! We could have the loudest stadium if the other half of the fans would yell! I beg them around me every year, doesn't help.
I'm just curious, how many more years does Huepel get this grace period? Its year 5, brother! I was saying things like this in 2021 and 2022. But we are almost to 2026 now. Saban had the #1 recruiting class in the country in year 2. And that was coming off of Bama wandering in the wilderness for how long? Surely with a little more urgency, Huep can get us further along than 12th, 14th, etc.Let's see how the upcoming season plays out with a new QB. There's nothing to give grace about. He's already achieving what all but about 5 programs wish they could. We're simply in "stay the course" mode now. Win 9-10 games, get in the playoff and see how the matchups shake out.I'm just curious, how many more years does Huepel get this grace period? Its year 5, brother! Neyland Stadium would be nothing if those people had their way. Your damn right I doOf course it is, but it is your feelings that you're exposing in front of the whole world. You are detailing your anger for some fans right here on the record. I bet you get on some fans for not screaming, don't you?
