Josh Pate eats crow about the Vols (and other teams)

His biggest mistake was falling for Bama and picking them as National Champions after doing the exact same thing last year and looking ridiculous for it.

He did knock Tennessee a bit, but don't blame him. It's still early, but Aguilar looked better than what the national media expected. Also the OLine looked strong and the run game didn't lose a step. So props to him for correcting after the performance.

The only crow to eat about the vols is the inconsistency in saying "Tenn has lots of questions, despite having a great defense and run game they will be average... these teams have lots of questions but I think theyll be great anyway!"

Here's a bonus from Pate -- today he released revised rankings, based on what we saw in weekend 1.

He pegs us at #13. To get you there quickly: he talks about the Vols for exactly 1 minute, starting at 7:45.

Go Vols!

p.s. Oh, and a bonus: he leaves Alabama entirely out of it. lol.

No one is gonna be 100% on their takes. But it's really surprising he was this wrong and on several big schools.

If you thought Nico was some sort of impossible loss, you simply didn't watch him 2024.
His guesses aren’t surprising to me anymore. He purposely toes the line of “outlandish” to generate buzz. He picks trivial qualities that he imagines in certain coaches and players, same as most sports personalities.

Last year he picked A&M and Florida to make it over the hump because Mike Elko is “very cerebral” and Billy Napier is “organized”. We saw how that turned out.

Picking Alabama to win it all isn't outlandish.

I enjoy his show. It's not something I go out of my way to watch though.

He does bring a lot of information about other conferences that I wouldn't learn about otherwise. I don't mind his poll segments. And I do like that he often goes against what other polls say.

He's an entertainer, and I view his show as such.
