He checked with his doctor if he could play one more season. His doc said he couldn't really injure it any more than he has, and that he would be fine as long as he could deal with the pain. Josh said it killed him last Saturday when his roomies (on the team) were at the team hotel, doin the Vol Walk, the game and such...said he can't quit like that. The surgery that he'll need to repair the damage--no meniscus, cartilage, bone on bone right now--will end his playing career. It will require 3-4 months to learn how to walk again, let alone sustain strength in the trenches. He just wants to finish what he started for the Big Orange. The same Josh McNeil that we heard may never play again? I must have missed something.
oops. i guess you finished while i was typing....what mendes said...he's a damn tough dude.McNeil is having a surgery done that will prevent him from ever playing football again. However, the doctors won't be able to perform the surgery untill December/January. McNeil was done with football, but missed it to much. He asked the doctor if he could play untill the surgery and he was told he could not do any more damage to his knee and if he could play through the pain, he can play. This is the last time he will play football.
