Skippy, I really enjoy reading many of your posts through multiple threads. Having said that I am in the no camp regarding McDaniels as HC based of his previous HC body of work. (Not like my opinion matters lol) What am I missing that makes his HC experience or record a massive hire for UT?

He was offered the Colts job a few years back and backed out of the deal for some reason. Not sure why he would come here. Also, he failed miserably in Denver. As soon as he got there he was trying to trade Jay Cutler for Matt Cassel of all people, and also alienated Brandon Marshall, who was one of the top receivers in the game at the time. He doesn’t know how to handle egos. What do you think would happen with all these new age players? We would have more kids in the transfer portal than we do right now. Hard pass for me.

He was my dream pic from day one and I just never thought it was a possibility. That would be awesome if it was real and this actually happens. We would have a hell of a new AD!

Could you imagine being in a living room with McDaniels and he pull out his five super bowl rings? Could you imagine getting Tom Brady to talk to you as a recruit, much less Peyton manning? I think McDaniels level of scheming and play calling is up there with Sark and Ryan Day. I could see him being a Ryan Day like head coach. He’s got a weird vibe to him kinda like a young energetic college guy. Not like Saban. My ultimate pick, and who I think is going to be the guy, is Matt Campbell. He can get the level of kids in to win the Natty and he’s going to build a culture. Which I think white will allow him to do.

JM is in the mix for nfl HC jobs every year if he wants one. He is not going to take our job. Neither is bienemy. such suggestions are absurd.

Career NFL guy. Don't see him jumping into the college game with all the added responsibilities at this point.

Getting offered a bunch of jobs means one thing to me, folks must think you can coach. McDaniels isn't going to jump into college unless he really has thought it out. We could do worse, and the upside is for sure there. At least we are talking a different class of coaches than the last few times. GBO!

No doubt that McDaniels would be able to recruit here, would be interesting. We can and certainly have done much worse.
Totally agree about Matt Campbell. He would absolutely be a solid hire. Maybe even a grand slam.

He obviously just enjoys being relevant. His act may be wearing thin and his NFL window may be closing.

Look... me and the McDonald's people got this little misunderstanding. See, they're McDonald's... I'm McDaniels. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs. They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds.
