Something I've noticed and was wondering if anyone else sees the same thing...

He doesn't seem to give much effort on balls that aren't thrown perfectly, but are within reach. This goes back to even the spring practice videos, and I noticed it again tonight.

It's probably a small gripe but it's definitely noticeable IMO.

That being said, congrats to the young man on his first TD as a Vol!

My observation is that Malone and Dobbs have good chemistry between them. We saw it in the Spring Game and Malone stepped up for Dobbs tonight.

You're not wrong. He doesn't fight to make a catch. Speedsters aren't usually very physical so it could just be his style more than lack of effort.

Some of it can be attributed to being a true freshman. This is one position that seems to take a giant leap forward before their sophmore year.

North was actually targeted more than twice tonight as well. That was nice to see haha. Dobbs knows who his play makers are

I've noticed that also. He doesn't fight for the ball like North does. Hopefully that will come with experience.

Something to think about tonight is that he had the flu and lost 10lbs this week. He does seem to not fight sometimes though. He does't look near as strong as North, but that will come with years in the program.

He might not fight for the ball, but have seen multiple plays where he fights for the extra yards after contact! once he gets more physical after a year in the conditioning program, he will fight for the jump balls.

I noticed that 5 star don't always mean the same thing. There is not a 5 star receiver on UTs team.
And Malone definitely ain't it.

Cooper was better as a true frosh than anyone in orange. This year he has more talent than all UTs WRs combined. The Vols are missing Josh Smith.
He is/was best WR on the team.

Malone lost 10 lbs this week due to being sick. Again, VN has no perspective and you guys wouldn't even go to work for a week while this kid is busting his ass while you clowns call him out.

Like others have said he has the flu. Lost a lot of weight and was drained. Surprised he played.

He quit on the play last week when Worley threw the horrible looking interception on the sideline. It looked so horrible because Malone quit on the play. He'll learn

Yessiree, just keep on believing that.
Not like Cooper had a good QB throw to him

Nope. Definitely all him. No bad catches or anything. Definitely

Posts like this always crack me up. I made an observation and commented on it to see if anyone else thought the same thing and even congratulated him on his first TD. It has been noticeable since spring when he didn't have the flu.

Then I get called names for it. Laughable.

Thank you to everyone else ITT for sharing your reasonable thoughts.

Josh is a laid back kid. You don't see him getting hyped and yelling on the side lines. Not all players play with that kink of intensity (I wish they did). I don't think he is lazy or selfish but a finesse player. The kid has 5 star talent.

Smith is the best receiver.
Period.
I'm not saying he is the biggest.
I'm not saying he is the fasyest , although I suspect he is.
He runs the BEST routes. And is the BEST at getting open. And this year he has the BEST hands.

You started a thread with his name in it and the first sentence, from you vinyl couch, is "something I notice is he doesn't give much effort..."

Go ahead and crack yourself up.
