Josh Malone needs to be more physical

Malone had a bad day but he's been good all year and a good part of last year. I think he'll bounce back.

I'm more worried about our TE play, we don't really have a player there. Sure hope Brooks or Pope can step up next year and give us a legitimate threat at that position.
Couldn't agree more KB...Wolf has regressed. Croom caused that critical interception with a drop...he's athletic but just not a good receiver. However, I've never seen so much pass interference go uncalled. It was laughable.

He played soft and scared, absolutely ZERO effort to help Dobbs out and make plays on the ball. Byrd needs to start and let Josh warm the bench. Jennings, Byrd are gamers along with Kamara.

Agree 100%.......

Malone definitely wore his panties out there yesterday....It was a physical game for men yesterday...
he better toughen up quick.....

I would have Byrd, Jennings, and Smith as my starting 3 on the field.....they've earned it! :salute:

Malone just doesn't seem to have any fight in him. If it doesn't come easy you can count on him not making the catch. If he had Jennings toughness and passion then he could be all SEC caliber.

Malone has been soft since he got on the Hill. Thoughts of the NFL surely are slipping away for him with each un-inspiring game. Think the NFL is less physical? Been an enigma since freshman year and I don't see him turning it all around.

Next one up..............

I thought he had a bad game just based on the results on the plays he was targeted...BUT, there are so many things wideouts do on plays they are not targeted that are not easy to see on the TV...that's why the coaches grade the films and work with the players...

I'm sure Josh is his own biggest critic and doesn't need to be called out by the fans...he's a huge talent and can break a game open at anytime...

Malone needs to snatch the ball out of the air instead of waiting on it like it's a beach ball. I don't like when receivers try to catch the ball with their body. That tdrop he had on third & 7 late in the fourth q is a perfect example. Gotta pluck the ball out of the air.

I cant believe how bad he was yesterday. He played like a little tulip and should be ashamed of himself. He is supposed to be our best WR and leader. He STUNK and needs to look in the mirror this week. Shameful performance.

Yeah. It is easy when you're trying to catch the ball while the officials are allowing the opposing DB to hold one of your hands.

On multiple plays he was interfered with without a flag. I'm sure it will be one of the things UT complains to the SEC office about this week.

Malone was a victim of pass interference that wasn't called on several big plays. He is a great receiver.

Great receiver?

He dropped 5 passes yesterday.

It's cool not to rag on him, but don't lie about him either.

We really needed him yesterday and he was a complete non- factor.

This is the truth. They were very physical with him and the refs let it go. Still, I'd like to see him play with more aggression and fight for the ball a good bit more. He seemed to shrink a bit in the face of TAM's aggression

Yeah but AM was hitting folks hard, so.

Seriously... no balls his way for a while. He will step it up.

Was it Malone that caught the third down pass in the first ot? If so, even if not, why is that route not ran past the sticks, instead of a yard short? I'm pretty sure that was Malone, and that was inexcusable.

That being said, Malone has been clutch at times this year and has made strides in his game to be a leader in our receiving corps. Chalk it up to a bad game, everyone has them

Malone had two really good games where it appeared that he was going to play SEC type football. However, Saturday he reverted back to his freshman type play. Why the reversal??? Was he scared or what?

Yea...it's like shooting just inside the 3 point line at the buzzer when you trail by three...

We agree here too. Malone isn't a shrimp..... he's got the size, he just needs the "want to"

No need to trash Malone I support him fully but I think he will feel he under performed. The DBs were very physical and the refs let way to much grabbing go on. But anyone who played sports knows you have to adjust to the way the game is called. He needed to follow Jennings lead an tear the DBs arms off his body, move towards thE QB and catch the ball. If you can't do this then it's time for the next man up. Perhaps we have a coaching issue.

Malone was getting mugged before he even touched the ball practically all game

He's probably a bust. Our leading receiver having a bad game cannot happen. Let's bench him. How dare he to face excellent coverage and not be a factor.

I said the exact same thing during the game! He reminds me of a Justin Hunter 2.0!!! He had a couple games that made me think he was going to have a breakout season because I already had in my head that it was his make-or-break season on whether he was a bust or not. He reverted back to his old self yesterday and IDK what his deal is, but we really really need him to step up this coming weekend, against that red team!!!

Its unbelievable how some of you jump people if they criticize or call out our team and staff. Why does it anger you so much? Believe me, If I saw Josh Malone in person I swear I would have said it right to his face. I'm 6'2 215lbs I'm not afraid of him lol

He didn't "drop" 5 passes Little. Come on now. The DBs were on him like a cheap suit and he let them out physical him. He could've and should've fought harder for 3-4 balls, a couple of which were clear pass interferences IMO. But I don't think it's accurate at all to say he just dropped 5 passes.
