I want for him to succeed. BUT, he is going to need to really pick up the pace in recruiting to have a chance. You cannot succeed in this league without top-tier classes.
Having 1 SEC level recruiter on staff isn't going to get it done.

Hooker NOT in concussion protocol - interesting. wonder what his injuries are

“We’re not saying he doesn’t have a concussion…..we’re just saying he isn’t in concussion protocol……it’s a wait and see game right now……..have you seen the other two guys?”

I'd only be concerned if we still aren't getting players after we win some games.

There's literally nothing he can do right now short of working some miracles to get a top 15 recruiting class.

I mean we are in the 20's right now considering everything.

OK. So which out of the following are not "SEC level recruiters"- Burns, Martinez, Mack, Garner, or Jean-Mary. According to those who have seen him relate to recruits, Heupel is in fact good. I will acknowledge that the others have not proven they can recruit against SEC opponents on a regular basis... but these guys seem pretty "SEC level". However the others have personalities that are usually successful in recruiting.

I would suggest that Heupel and staff were hired behind the 8 ball and are fighting to catch up. I also suspect that the portal will play an unusually significant role for UT in the first 2 or 3 years simply because of what the roster is right now.

He has some pretty severe issues that are not helping his cause. Bad mojo around the program, unknowns with NCAA sanctions, unproven results , etc. A few good wins will solve it.

Wish they’d allow call in questions during the Monday PC…

“Hey Coach this is Bobby from Frankewing. I was just wondering I wanted ask you who the Vols was playin this weekend and if you think we’re gonna win or not. And I’ll hang up and listen. Go Vols!”

>Not sure if Hendon Hooker will be available or not. He is not currently in concussion protocol.

>We're probably as thin as anyone in the country as far as pure numbers go, guys on scholarship.

>Joe Milton wasn't a full 100% last week but got some work during practice. He'll get healthier as the week goes on.

>Cooper Mays is a warrior. You could tell things started to bother him more as the game went on but he didn't want to come out.

>The linebackers has done some really positive things, played hard and made plays. We have to continue to play smarter. It's a deeper group than where we started in spring ball.

>No comment on whether Milton or someone else would be the guy if Hooker can't go.

Linebackers lol. Banks continues to be the lowest graded defender, and his mental lapses kill us. Stupid penalties, losing the WR in the end zone Saturday...

I realize that depth is a problem but the cost of having him in the game is reaching the point where it's too high.

If he's not on his back by the time his arm starts forward, then we may have something...

I don’t get this. Even last year at Auburn and vs A&M, he showed just enough mobility to get keep any sacks minimal lost yards or even gain some yardage. It’s not like he’s a statue back there.

After having a couple of "Recruiters of the year" on the last staff, I'm not buying into that narrative any longer. The one major thing
every team needs to be successful is a Quarterback. Look at Clemson, all those 4 and 5 stars and yet with their current QB they can't get it done. Already out of the NC game speak. A good QB can solve quite a few problems.
