Josh Dobbs - NFL Draft thread (merged)

Don't cite articles unless you have reason to agree with them.

The Browns did have poor QB play, and that certainly hurts. But their QBs were not helped by the fact that they got killed on every snap.

Split the blame however you'd like, but the Browns were the worst performing offensive line in the league last year. Saying otherwise is beyond stupid.

That's why he said otherwise

No better. The titans o-line is elite as well.

Dude with this post, you have proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you know nothing about the NFL. Also, Elliot didnt have to compete with someone like Demarco Murray. Also Zeke got 3 times the carries but whatever fits your narrative.

I really think that dobbs would be the #1 pick if our OL did a better job..can not count how many times I saw dobbs want to throw, but he just didnt have the time, so he took off.

This will be what people point to when Dobbs dominates the NFL. They'll say the reason he wasn't more dominant in college is because he had arguably the worst offensive line in the FBS his final 3 years in college.

Also Butch Jones ineptitude will be cited as another impediment to Josh Dobbs when he was at Tennessee.

The at best benefit you get for Elliott is being on the high side of what basically everybody projected for Elliott. Bear in mind I don't think most people were expecting for Elliott to easily lead the league in carries. For instance, the NFL.com projection was 250 carries for 1300 yards. Extrapolate that over 322 carries and you get 1674. That's more than he actually got. I mean, yay you and all and others projected less but this wasn't some magical prediction on your part.

Neal was the #2 S for WalterFootball and ESPN insider, probably others. Neal was no hidden gem.

You made Top 3 lists at RB and QB and in both cases 2 of your 3 were absolute crash-and-burn bombs in their first season.

Haha I love when narcissist get proven wrong in front of everyone. I'm just going to quote because it makes me happy.

You know, you never answer my questions.... What is the number 1 route in the NFL?

I think his biggest challenge to overcome if he ends up on an NFL team, will be his desire to try to run out of plays. His entire college career, the offense was based on him being an optional rusher on every play; that's going to be a hard mindset to change.

Who knows what he's capable of with an o line, and dare I say, WRs

Lol at D4H claiming to be a football genius whilst admitting to knowing nothing about OL play or how to evaluate OL.

This coming from a guy who once claimed Coleman Thomas was a future 1st round pick at Center.

I heard Todd Mcshay say the Jets should take Josh Dobbs in the 3rd round if they want a QB.

NFL teams aren't into "developing" players. Also, there seems to be a major problem with scouts, coaches, GM, regarding QB evaluations. Dobbs could have a personality clash with a GM and you can forget him ever being on that team even if the coach/scout said he will be a superstar. Or it's vice versa. A GM is in love with a player and ignores what coaches/scouts say because it can create a buzz ( like Jared Goff).

If he's there in the later rounds, he'd be a good pickup as Matiota's backup. He'd have a few years to sit and develop that way.

I think from a mentality standpoint and a skills standpoint it makes a lot of sense... don't know about the best for Dobbs but good for the titans...

About what? It says they'd be looking at him as a 3rd stringer to bring in as a project - I'd assume in the 5th or 6th round.

Everybody here would love for somebody to reach and pick him in the top half of the draft.

I'm more referring to those who say "Dobbs will never make it in the NFL".

Dobbs is just a tough one to project. He might get behind a good o-line, pick up an offense and progress. He might prove to be the guy we saw at times struggle with accuracy and making simple stick throws like against SC last year.

There are a handful who have said it, but many more who think he has a good shot to make a roster...the primary argument has been in what round he gets drafted or if he has to go the undrafted free agent route. But as GaVol said, pretty much all of us want to see him on a NFL roster and hope some team even reaches for him a bit early (middle rounds) so that he's a little more secure.

Having a team work you out before the draft is hardly that. Has Bray MADE IT in the NFL? At least Dobbs is likely to be drafted...ups the odds.
