Josh Dobbs - NFL Draft thread (merged)

Exactly. Well said. And I guess after the Florida game debacle we should have made Peterman our starter. Folks on here critical on CBJ on picking QBs probably still have their butt hurt that he didn't choose Riley Ferguson and went with Dobbs.

Hate to break this to you, but, up until RF left, he was ahead of JD on the roster. If he had not hurt his leg, JD may never have seen the field.

D4H, Why is Peterman rated higher by NFL scouts?

Are we supposed to believe you or the NFL evaluators?

Same reason they had Jared Goff rated higher than Dak Prescott. Cause they're stupid.

Neither. Just see the results and then decide who was better at evaluating talent. I'm confident that I will fare much better than any NFL scouts with this year's draft. This is the first time I've done through scouting on most of the draft eligible prospects. In the coming weeks I'll come out with my big board of top prospects that I would draft.

I'm pretty sure my picks will be superior to whomever the NFL teams actually pick in the 1st round this year.

.

I typically find the pile on D4H to be boring, but I'll make an exception here....

So there's some professional guys out there earning a nice living evaluating NFL prospects vs a dude who spends countless hours posting to an internet forum.....which of these would the general public consider to be stupid?

Same guys he will refer to as "getting it" if they merely whisper that Dobbs could one day be on an NFL roster and be a starter one day.

It would have helped his case a bit if our supposed oracle didn't dismiss Prescott as well. In fact he specifically cited how much better a prospect Kevin Hogan would have been.

Don't forget Bosa sucking and Kelvin Taylor being a star...................and about 50 other obnoxious and ridiculous claims and statements.

D4H,

You place your talent evaluation skills above NFL talent evaluators.

I'de place your skills between psychic Miss Cleo and a gnat.

Those are called learning experiences. I did however correctly predict Ezekiel Elliott would lead the league in rushing as a rookie and that Sterling Shepard would be the best rookie WR and better than all the guys picked in the first round. I also predicted Jared Goff would be an epic bust. I also predicted Keanu Neal would be one of the best rookie defensive players in the draft when most thought him going in the first round was a reach.

I wasn't perfect last year but I did pretty good. A lot better than the NFL scouts.

Never said Kelvin Taylor would be a star. I only said he would be better than Derrick Henry (who I correctly predicted would be a bust). Kelvin Taylor will outperform Henry soon. Just wait and watch.

Plus its only been one year. Many a rookie have had stellar first years only to bust later on (see RG3, San Bradford, Vince Young, etc.). Joey Bosa will be considered a bust soon enough. He simply had a lucky rookie season.

Your predictions were horrible last year. Expect the same this year. It's a lock.

Dobbs worked his tail off for 4 years trying to become a better passer. He worked with different coaches and consultants. It is quite possible that he has maxed his passing ability out.... which isn't good enough to play QB in the NFL.

Really? I correctly predicted who would be the best rookie overall (Ezekiel Elliott) who led the NFL in rushing. I said he would dominate the NFL immediately when most thought that wouldn't happen. I screamed from the roof tops that Jared Goff would be an epic bust. He proved me right by having arguably the worst rookie season ever for a QB. I correctly predicted Keanu Neal would be a star when most thought he was a reach by the falcons. He only helped lead them to the super bowl as one of their best defensive players. I correctly predicted that Sterling Shepard would outperform all the WRs taken in the first round. I correctly predicted Laquon Treadwell, Josh Doctson, and Corey Coleman would be busts. And so on.

I wasn't perfect but I did hit on a lot of predictions that many thought were out there. And that was with only minimal film study and not much in the way of experience to know what factors I should hold more weight to and which I should rely on less. After last year's learning experience, expect this years prediction to be substantially better.

Yes, really.

Elliott was the 4th overall pick and went to play for by far the best OL in the league.....way to go out on a limb.

Little early to call Goff and epic bust, don't you think? You also think Andrew Luck is an epic bust. And you didn't think much of Dak Prescott to say the least, and I think he was much more impressive as a rookie qb last year than Elliott.

Neal was good as a rookie first round pick, don't think I'd go so far to say he's a star just yet. I'll give you Shepard, he was very good.

As far as the others, aren't you on record saying you can't judge how good an NFL player is gonna be based on their rookie seasons? You know, ahem, Kelvin Taylor. Should I remind you of Bosa and Marquez North right about now?

Elliott was the 1st RB taken and was basically everybody's #1 at the position going in. The fact he landed behind arguably the best line in the game with a solid passing game helped plenty. Neal was another 1st rounder and 2nd S taken. Expecting success from 1st rounders isn't going to move the attaboy needle much. Shepherd was a good observation though. Goff, eh, we'll see, but I'd be more prone to lean your way than the other at this point.

"Did pretty good" cutting yourself quite a bit of slack. It's not worth trying to find everything but your top 3 RB's Elliott (discussed above), Kelvin Taylor-who couldn't finish the season on an active roster and Jonathan Williams who managed 94 yards rushing and 3.5ypc. Meanwhile your guaranteed bust Derick Henry crushed 2 of your 3 nominations with just under 500yds at 4.5ypc backing up the league's #3 rusher.

Your QB's were Wentz, Kevin Hogan and Christian Hackenburg. Wentz looks ok at this point but the other two? Hogan has 104yds, no TD's and 2 pics already playing for his 2nd team as a rookie. Hackenburg...basically Kelvin Taylor scenario.

Then of course there's Bosa...

So you're "learning" when you're teaching the "less gifted"? Gotta admit this schtick is much better than when you played it straight as a beginner poster. You were so bland and uninteresting. Clown it up and you get all these responses.

Butchna, I see you are hateful and cannot support your claims. It's always best to be honest when proven wrong. You seem to have been proven wrong, but stuck in dishonesty. Can you help me understand why?

I don't know you or the other moniker, but it is obvious from your over the top denials and your immediate conclusions about Na that you are exactly who they say you are.

You always had stamina. :) You'll start getting put on ignore by some as soon as they realize who you are. So I won't quote you anymore...that's why you stopped last time, right?

Na, never put someone on ignore that is easy. Low hanging fruit should never be passed up.

Only ignore I have is UTInfantile and he is just to stupid to live.

Its funny how you say it's too early to call Goff a bust but yet you wanna call me out on Kelvin Taylor eventhough he hasn't even played yet in the NFL. All I ever said about Kelvin Taylor is that he will be better than Derrick Henry. I never said he would be an elite RB in the NFL. I just said he would be better than Derrick Henry and be a decent starter for a few years. When he gets his chance he will prove me right. Kelvin Taylor will be a good starting RB in the NFL.

Marquez North will have a breakout season this year if he can stay healthy. Talent has never been an issue for him it's always been about his health. Rams must think highly of him since they put him back on their active roster even after missing his entire rookie season with injuries. Marquez North will ultimately be one of the best receivers in his draft class. I remember saying he would be better than Laquon Treadwell and I'm sticking to it.

Joey Bosa will ultimately be a bust. I compared him to Aaron Kampman coming out. Kampman had a couple of 10+ sack seasons but no one ever considered him a star. The same will be true for Bosa. He'll have a few good seasons but will ultimately be a bust given where he was drafted.

(1) I just didn't say Elliott would be good. I said he would lead the NFL in rushing. I said he would get 1500+ yards. I said he would immediately be one of the best players in the NFL. I was attacked got saying this. People were admitting he was good but they said he wouldn't be as good in year 1 as I was saying. I was ultimately proven right. So please stop acting like all I did was just say he would be good. I said he would be best RB in the NFL his first year. No one else said that.

(2) Neal may have been a first round pick but he was a surprise first round pick. And a lot of people were saying Atlanta made a mistake taking him that high. I was alone in saying he would be a star immediately.

(3) I didn't do too well with the QBs last year. That is why I called it a learning experience. I missed big time on Dak. I've learned from that. Christian Hackenburg is a bust but I still like Kevin Hogan. He won't be a star QB like Dak. But I think he can be a solid starter someday.

I love how you can just call someone a bust and you think it somehow makes it true. Henry has been great in his role. As a Titans fan, I'm thrilled he's on the team.

Speaking of the Titans, why'd you never mention Jack Conklin heading into last year's draft? He was arguably the best right tackle in the league as a rookie (certainly top 5). Your expertise should have seen that coming, right? Or is he another guaranteed bust?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. This stuff cannot be made up. Bless your erroneous heart D4H. You talk about how bad NFL scouts are, of coutse until they agree with whatever you predict. I wonder why you dont quit your job and become an NFL scout? Or better yet, an NFL GM?

Think of what Henry would have done if he was on the Cowboys? 😳😳😳
