Josh Dobbs (merged)

Please do instead of repeating the same names over and over. And then we can put together a list of great players taken in the first round and compare.

BTW, the second round isn't a "low round".

Not to mention that he completely disregards the context of the position in the draft, and the team that drafted the player.

Gronk was the second TE taken that year in the draft behind Jermaine Gresham who is no slouch himself, and Belichick's offense uses the TE more heavily than many teams.

There's no guarantee that Gronkowski would have had the same level of success on another team with another QB than Brady, as there is no transitive property in football.

No HOF players were able to accomplish what they did solely with their own talent, all of them benefited from the talent that surrounded them. D4H can't admit that though because he's blinded by his own emotional over-commitment to particular players themselves.

So by your logic then, if a star player isn't drafted in the first couple of rounds then everyone that didn't is wrong? Hopefully you won't be surprised too if Dobbs never sees the field. You know that happens a lot too right? QB gets drafted in rounds 4-7 and never even gets a snap in a regular season game.

NFL scouts/coaches have to do this every year. They have hundreds of college kids to review, scout, interview, put through workouts, etc. Hundreds every year. So if they didn't pick someone in round 3 that some other team got in round 4 and the kid became a star, there could be any number of factors that caused that that you aren't privy to. They are better at this than you, have spent more time around the game than you, know more about talent than you and if a guy you are head over heels in love with doesn't make it on the field, its not because they are stupid, its because they know more than you.

At the end of the day I know more about talent than anybody else on this planet. That is why I will ultimately be right about Josh Dobbs.

Just wait and see.

Talent shines through. Brady, Brown, Arian Foster et al. Common theme is they got on the same practice fields at the same mini-camps and voluntary work outs and training camps and their SOMETHING was obvious to COACHES who teach for a living. Brady was nowhere near a complete product but he showed enough where he was a third string and then primary backup over established veterans. Antonio Brown was initially the Steelers returner but they kept him because his explosive talent showed in glimpses. Foster as an UDFA had to be that much better than every other RB on the roster...just to stick...and he did. If Dobbs has IT that will be shown and he’ll stick around. If not...there’s a reason, he’s not good enough.

Exactly.

All I've been saying is him not being great as a rookie proves nothing. Like you said Tom Brady wasn't anything either as a rookie. And even in his second season when he led the Patriots to the Super Bowl he wasn't the Tom Brady we see now. That team was led more by the defense.

I've said time and time again I expect Dobbs to take a giant leap forward this off-season. He's gonna shine and show the elite talent I've been saying he has.

For arguably the greatest tight and in NFL history, the second round is low.

If there was a redraft today, Rob Gronkowski would go top 5 in the 2010 draft.

I mean, I get it .. especially with regards to QBs. Guys like Brady are the super low exception not the rule. And I am more than confident that the president of the Josh Dobbs fan club doesn't have the skills or knowledge to discover the outliers. He is a fan not a scout and no where close to being one.

I correct predicted that a RB that went in the 3rd round (Alvin Kamara) would be the best rookie RB from his class. I correctly predicted that a WR that went late in the 2nd round (JuJu Smith-Schuster) would be a star in the NFL and much better than many of the receivers taken ahead of him. I was also right about undrafted free agent LB Dylan Cole (Texans) being an effective player in the NFL. I correctly predicted that 2nd-3rd round safeties like Marcus Williams (Saints), Marcus Maye (Jets), and John Johnson (Rams) would be great players right away.

I've shown a great skill of spoting talent. And this is only the beginning. Those guys were just rookies last year.

I expect this upcoming season to show my greatness at evaluating talent even more.

You sir, are delusional at best, insane most likely .. certifiably nuts is possible as well. Honestly, if you're not one of those, you're just a freaking liar .. you have no track record to speak of and you don't know QBs. So at the end of the day, you're still just a guy playing make believe on here.

How about a low stakes wager, D4H? Not talking money or even a ban bet.

If Josh Dobbs so much as starts a playoff game this coming January, you can assign me a new avatar, and I have to keep it for the next 365 days. He doesn't have to win the Super Bowl, as you've guaranteed, and it doesn't matter which team he is playing for at the time, he just has to take the first offensive snap of a playoff game.

The winner obviously has to pick an image that complies with board rules.

Surely your unwavering confidence can't possibly have an issue with those stakes.

Like we didn't know you would go straight for the same tired examples again. Funny, you never point out the glaring misses. You're really awful at this actually. RBs often get picked into the second and third round that end up being very good. You calling anyone a HOFer at this point is lunacy honestly so don't go there because until he solidifies himself as a sure bet, you're still wrong there too.

Seems fair .. you can change mine too for that matter .. pot sweet enough?

Do you really wanna lose this badly? I mean I already know Dobbs is starting in the playoffs this year. I'll give you a chance to back out right now. Cause this will be a surefire L.

But if you don't wanna back out, then I will grudgingly accept.

I so can't wait for you to make excuses and refuse to pay up.

What if the Steelers don’t make the playoffs? He guaranteed Super Bowl...so that’s a loss, right?

Make a bet on it. A real one. If Dobbs doesn’t start a playoff game this year, you’re gone forever.

D4H finally stepped up and wagered something. I, for one, am proud of him.

He already promised to give all this up if Dobbs isn't a SUPERSTAR within 2 years, so an avatar bet is a nice one year stopgap.

He sounds like a bully that knows he's about to get his ass kicked.

Now taking suggestions for D4's new AV.
