Jones: UT not the only Champions of Life

Champions of Life is still better then proper shower discipline and Bamboo I suppose

Sad thing is, I used to like the Dooley press conferences. He couldn't coach worth a damn, but he was at least entertaining.

You're a very hate filled, small and petty person. Feel very sorry for you.

Lolololl, what the heck are you talking about? What is said is a fact. CBJ has said many many times that he cant let things go. He said he keeps a list of media members that criticise him several times.

And here we thought your idiocy was just a perception.

Oh look, someone else here to call me stupid, but unable to dispute anything I said. How are you 82, I never would have guessed it would be you. You have a good Christmas? I was hoping for MCB tickets but I did get a pretty cool smoky grey polo, a Titans tie and a Grizzlies tie.

Please don't even pretend to go down the road of Butch being remotely as bad as Dooley.

No he is not. Dooley couldnt recruit good and was a disaster in developing a culture with former players etc i give an edge to CBJ in game coaching as well.
I was merely stating the fact that with a far more talented roster, we are in the same bowl that Dooley got us to. Those are facts arent they?

To add to my narrative of bad coaches...I would take CBJ or Dooley over Kiffin, Briles or Petrino.

That's because the fanbase was reinvigorated at the time, plus Nashville is in the center of the state. These things are all about $. I don't remember if the bowl selection process was any different during the BCS days or not. Probably not though.

But what I am sure of is if we were 6-6 this year we wouldn't be in the MCB.

I think it's because as much as we want these guys to be smooth in front of a microphone, at their core, they're football coaches. There just aren't a lot of guys that can coach well and be dynamic with the media.

He doesn't have to be dynamic. He just doesn't need to be embarrassing himself or the program he represents.

I've said it before...context and intent just don't matter in today's day and age and at least being aware of that in how you communicate, is part of the job at a program like TN.

Yeah, im sure we woukdnt be, we didnt deserve the Gator Bowl in year two thought. Works both ways.

What's really stupid is our very own fans push the narrative more than any others. The media knows they can count on the foolish "Lyle sucks" crew for clicks and shares. Then after they help perpetuate it they cry about it. So, so dumb.

How about blaming the person who originated the quote? Don't say dumb **** in the 1st place...

Of course it was stupid. It's a cliché. That's part of what makes a cliché a cliché.

But if you paid any attention to what he was saying, he wasn't talking about some sort of achievement for his team, he was just trying to say the his group of Seniors had grown to be good men.

The mistake was not just plainly saying " the results aren't what we wanted, but I'm proud of these guys." Instead, he spoke like Butch does and people ran to it like an overturned PBR truck in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Agree 100%.

Just to change the subject, NC State is whopping up on Vandy. How did they let that game go south?

Well I think he has done a great job of molding these young kids into men, do you disagree?

Sure, but he's a highly paid football coach, not a Boy Scout troop leader. He's paid to develop talented football players & win. Or did I miss where coaches are now measured on "men growing"?

Wow, Vandy with 107 yards passing through 3 quarters. NCS must have an all American Secondary.

Butch does himself no good whatsoever by regurgitating the Champions of Life thing. He's going to get nothing but ridicule from the media and others by continuing to bring it up in any context. Someone close to him needs to counsel him to just let it go, put it all in the past, and move on.

Is the world ending? Special Ed made a post that speaks to the subject at hand.

This is serious!

I still stand firm in my belief that all the comments he makes to the media is directed at the team with little concern with what the peanut gallery thinks or says about it all.

Go Vols!

Beat Nebraska!

Eh. I doubt he's still addressing said comments weeks later if that was the case.

Got a question for you about stuff ive read on here today if you dont mind?

Lots of people on here blame injuries for the loss to Vandy, I believe you have as well, please correct me if you havent.

If we cant beat Vandy because of injury, what would make people think we can beat Nebraska, being that are not returning any of our injuried players?

It read like he was answering a question about it rather than bringing it up on his own.

I haven't seen the interview or a transcript of the interview.

Either way he knows what he says in his interviews will get back to the players and that's why everything thing he says is with them in mind as the most important audience.

In some cases.

Others are misdirection plays to get the conversation headed in a different direction than bad football that resulted in Ls or missed championship games.
