That the school can't even hire from within. MSST elevates Luke to HC. OU elevates Riley to HC (even after SC said he was to younng to be HC, reason they didn't interview him). Best staff in America, huh? Hope next coach brings in quality instead of quanity.

Shoop was James Franklin's DC -- considered one of the best in the country. How he failed so spectaculary at UT -- even after CBJ was gone... This is just inexplicable

Look at the bigger picture and what has went on with the Admin, boosters and AD since Jones was fired.

I really think we have to many that isn't the HC that are in the HC buisness.

Shoop was great at Vandy and PSU. Yet horrid at Tennessee. Now there are two options as tho what happened. One, Shoop all of a sudden just forgot how to play defense. Two, he wasn't that good to begin with and owed his success and reputation to James Franklin.

My bet is on option 2.

No doubt option 2.

Or 3. He was micromanaged by CBJ to the point he couldn’t do his job.

4. If you believe CBJs decision to cut the strength coach resulted in all those injuries, then he was calling plays with one arm behind his back.

I tend to believe CBJ has an effect on those around him causing them to completely suck at their day job.

I'm still scratching my head on this too. I thought Shoop was a game changer. Well, he was. Just not the way we wanted him to be. Seven months to prepare for Ga Tech and the defense still gives up 600 plus yards. Unbelievable.

Definitely 3. I think on top of that, with the constant desire of CBJ to "win every press conference" and his stubbornness to budge off of certain players, even when the players were not performing, was primary in the constant poor defensive outcomes. Gotta believe that any personnel suggestions/recommendations from Shoop were subject to veto from the top.

If Butch had been fired last season. Would Jumper have seen the field this season minus all the injuries?

I might be mistaken but didn't butch make shoop keep current position coaches instead of letting shoop bring his guys that new his style of defense & to teach it properly?
