I can understand all of the frustration when it comes to this season. But I'm willing to give some grace to coach Jones. I like everyone see things as I watch the games and it makes me wonder why. Jones has next year if he doesn't improve no doubt he will be removed as coach.I hope that we will see a better product in the bowl game we play in. There will be some changes to take place in the off season coaches most likely will be leaving. There are a lot football programs going through challenges like we are . Butch needs to get the chemistry right with the coaches and the team. We have the talent I'm hoping Butch can get it done.

Being frustrated does not excuse his inability to get the team prepared, make crucial in game decisions, and most of all, control his players.

The guy makes millions of dollars to produce a good football team and has had 4 years to do so. His grace period is over.

Can't take anything away from the bowl game imo. He could absolutely destroy whoever we play and it would change nothing for me. We obliterated Iowa and Northwestern only to remain mediocre the following year so what makes you think this will go any differently?

we as a fanbase dont owe him crap. Way more than the majority were all in. We were willing to look past his mistakes from last year, his lack of big game planning, lack of end of the game management, and now his obvious lack of accountability.

He is the one that wont own it. If anything, he owes us. As Botch would say "Own it".

Not making excuses for Jones we underachieved. Never should have lost to Vandy. We did have a lot of key players hurt on the the o-line and d-line. De-fence whats going on with that!

Trying to be positive but it might take a act of God to save the ship that appears sinking. It has happened though.

Don't take this personal but it has nothing to do with Butch Jones. UT is at a fork in the road, one way is keep "current coach" the other is to dive into the total unknown, again.

We know that Butch has gotten us a bowl 3/4 years. We don't know that the next guy can do that(he may leave after 1 year). CBJ may or may not be able to get us a NC, none of us are fortune tellers.

Now is not the time to let current administration to make a lame duck long term decision. It's not about the $, even worse it not about a bad 8-4. It's about having 5 coaches in 10 years and hitting the reset button on improvement.

It's time to eat our vegetables, and take one more round with Butch, or roll the dice. Losing to Vandy may not be the final straw but it does make it enough straws.

Get it together Butch!

Go Vols!

I see no reason why we can't treat butch with respect because he has been a great recruiter and ambassador for the university. But at the same time we should also be able to say that this season was unacceptable and with some of the inexplicable late game decisions over the past few years you have to wonder whether he's the man for the job.

Well said OP. It either gets corrected or it doesn't next season. 1 more year, considering the logistics involved in a complete staff overhaul, is foregone conclusion. I think EVERY fan is disappointed with this year. The changes he makes to the staff, our performance in the bowl, and his recruiting will force a resolution.

Even IF we see a better product in the bowl (highly doubtful IMO), it'll just get the expectations higher for next year which will just lead to more disappointment.

We gave him grace last year, you know, the Oklahoma loss, the Florida loss, not winning the east when we were the best team.. done with grace, especially after this season..
