I've had Jon as the starter for a long time now. Lane Kiffin has steadily refused to say who gets the job. Gerald Jones may have given it away in comments to TFP's Wes Rucker...

"They've both shown a lot of maturity," Jones said. "Nobody's bragging, and nobody's pointing fingers. They've just pretty much accepted it. They believe in what the coaches are doing, and they believe the coaches are making the right decisions. Nick knows that if Crompton ever goes down, then he'll be ready to go in there and play."

Or, he could have been assuming that since JC was taking snaps with the 1s that he is the starter.

I'd be shocked if Crompton isn't the starter. But if he starts playing like fumbles mcstupid, he won't keep it for long...

Maybe Gerald meant that when Stephens starts then inevitably gets pulled for acting like Phillip Rivers on the sidelines then he will be ready when JC goes down

Not suprised if he is...IT is what all of the articles have been leaning to all offseason...We will soon see...It is about that time!!!

I can only hope that superior coaching makes the difference for Crompton. His tendency to do better in practice than games is still a big concern.

amazing to see all this faith in the coaching staff except for when they choose a QB.

Well look at the QB's. In this instance it's not figuring out the best, it's trying to figure out who isn't the worst.

Well it's hard to imagine that either qb could be worse than last year, hopefully they have both improved. :crossfingers:

Yes, I'm going off topic:p, but how long have you been a mod, I just noticed this.

That bad taste in the mouth from last year is going to take some time to go away...

maybe but these coaches don't have that. They have said they are giving everyone a chance to compete and earn the starting position. I truly feel if JC is starting in 2 weeks then he is the best option we have.

for about 2 weeks

Crompton seems to have the slight lead and will start if he has a decent scrimmage on Saturday.

If he struggles though and Stephens outplays him, it could certainly bump Stephens above him.

No.

There is no doubt in my mind that Crompton will be the starter at QB. The only way he loses the job is if he gets injured.

Justin, in your opinion, how much did the ankle injury hurt Crompton last year? I could see how it could really hurt your accuracy.

Good question...also, do you think JC is more comfortable with the current scheme?

I said it the other day as a joke.....but why not sign M. Legreux and put in the triple option. BB, Oku, Poole, in the backfield next year with Nu'keese, Gerald, and D. Moore on the wing????? Ga Tech North!!!!!!!!!!

Still joking BTW.....

Crompton has never been an accurate passer, from high school to now.

The OL giving him all of 2 seconds to throw and having only one or two WRs that knew what the hell they were supposed to do were bigger problems than his ankle IMO.

I'm sure the ankle didn't help but there was a lot more to it than his ankle.
