Probably will get blasted, but we will have Jones, Dormady, JG, and Hunter in 2017. One of them will transfer

Most people know that...you say plenty of stuff to get blasted about...this ain't one. :acute:

It seems our QB recruiting has improved since Mike DeBord was hired. It may be coincidence but his addition to the staff sure has not hurt us in this critical area.

They prob actually understand Debord. I never could tell you what Jake was saying half the time

Yes, i think JG will look around.

Butch Jones has a very long history with the Guarantano family. Butch was an assistant coach at Rutgers (1990-92) when Jarrett's father, James Guarantano, was a wide receiver there. The elder Guarantano "left as one of the most prolific receivers in school history. Guarantano was second All-Time in Scarlet Knight history in yards (2,065), first in receptions (158) and third in touchdowns (11). In 1999, he was inducted into the Rutgers football Hall of Fame" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Guarantano).

Jarrett committed to Tennessee over Ohio State and his father's alma mater. Personally I am not the least bit concerned about Jarrett decommitting.

Not worried about any QB transferring anymore. QB recruiting is a thing of the past now. Butch has proven he can get the big guns. I mean there is a real possibility that he gets the #1 QB for 2017 & 2018. Transfers are going to happen. Butch has 99 problems but a great QB ain't one.

I'm thinking the best pitch we have going for us right now may be with top offensive linemen:

"If you wanna become the best, come to Tennessee and go up against these outstanding young D-linemen in practice all week, then take it out in front of 100,000 on Saturdays against the SEC."

My GPS says that route will take O-linemen directly to the NFL.

Maybe because it was to a fan group and not media.
I'm still surprised that he mentioned recruiting.
It makes me feel like it must be either a whale of a fish or they got a big surprise (turned someone)?

The potential number one player in the country for 2017 qualifies as whale of a fish.

In all seriousness, I know it will be someone like Warrior etc.... but looks like we just offered Stephen Sullivan, a top 100 WR who just decommitted from LSU on Sunday-- maybe it's a quick flip?

I hope Butch is not comparing our recruits and players to what he has had in the past. The real comparison is to what everyone else in the SEC has. He definitely has on the right track.

It just makes sense that it's Hunter Johnson given the time table he gave for commitment and the crapton of crystal balls rolling in for us.

I'm hoping it's Warrior, Davis, Hardman and Brown. That might be more boomage than volnation could handle

Hardman has said he'll be a silent and commit on NSD. Davis has set his announcement for October 23. Warrior or Brown would be a nice additional surprise, but it's Hunter Johnson Butch is talking about.

I could see Higgins pulling the trigger after Johnson but I doubt it. If he did that would be two kids in the top 100 of 2017 already with another top 100 kid in 2018 already committed as well. I think most recruits have already taken notice that UT is building a powerhouse right now but if some didn't get the memo the Johnson commitment may open their eyes.

I believe that it is Hunter Johnson as well, time table fits and would be a huge get imo.

i would rather see commits for 2016 instead of Hunter for 2017.... I think its a huge commit, but a long way off and I remember another top QB that committed to us ahead of time that decommitted at the start of his senior season. We all know a lot can change in a year.

It's a positive momentum thing if he commits...and is bigger than when Kendall did so. Sure, he can flip but it's definitely better to have the commit...recruiting wise.

If CBJ is this excited to say this publicly, it must be going very well. Love what he has done with recruiting for our program.

my thoughts exactly! The man knows what exciting days in recruiting looks like and if he is saying this he must know it is going to happen! This is better than Christmas! I can't wait! Boom BOOM!

a majority of the super hyped VN recruits that we have missed on over the years have seemed to flop at the college level.

Bell/Lawson/Ramsey are the big ones that come to mind who everyone on here wanted and have gone on to do great things.

I have to agree with you. The one's who turned us down had horrible college careers.

Cadillac Williams flopped on the college level. So, did Ronnie Brown. So did Cornelius Bennett. So, did Chris Simms. So did Fernando Bryant. So, did Chris Leak.
