Jones BOTCHED the QB decision...

With a decent oline, a pocket passer is much more preferable imo. It should have been very clear to Butch that the oline was going to be aweful most of the season, and he needed someone to make plays out of the pocket. People are so loyal to Butch that they are justifying a bad decision.

No one would make the case that Dobbs is a better passer in the pocket, however until the pocket is there for more than 3 seconds, we needed someone who could make plays on the ground. Butch should have known that.

You are living proof of his screen name. Dobbs wasn't ready physically, and had a lot on him academically. Worley was hands down the better QB all along. Dobbs gives us running threat which makes the offense easier to call and more effective. Besides that, he and his parents asked for redshirt this season if he wasn't starter so he could focus more on academics (not bc he's failing, but bc he's in a really tough major). That's why he was listed behind peterman on depth chart. Cbj respected their request until crunch time. He's the man now, things are about to get really interesting. Looking forward to next week. Go vols!!!!
It is a myth that Worley is a good QB, he is a tough kid and a great game manager that's all. It amazes me how attached people get to players and coaches that they will cut down anyone who is a threat to either.

Like those sniffing Peterman and Dobbs' jocks? They've been doing nothing but cut down Worley this whole season.

Its never ending, the same ones will be saying wait til dormady gets here if Dobbs has a bad game. I guess people settle on a guy and get butt hurt when that fails. I don't think Worley failed, I think he's served his purpose at UT. Now we just gotta hope Dobbs isn't a one hit wonder.

A blind man can see that Dobbs is our best QB. He's not great but he can run, gives us a dimension we've not had--and this was his first action of the year! You could see he had more upside last year. Dobbs lost half a year of experience because our coaches can't see what was obvious. Nice!

And if Dobbs played like Nathen Peterman played you would blame Butch on burning his red shirt. Just stop. There is a reason Butch is the coach and you do these silly threads. :eek:lol::birgits_giggle:

Listen to former players, (Swain, Overstreet, Hinton, etc), Dobbs looked 3rd string in practice. Peterman looks 3rd string in games. Coach has to call it like he sees it. That's why he makes the big bucks to make decisions that put his team into the best position to win. GBO!!!

Dooley also "made the big bucks"...as well as poor decisions. Just because they make the "big bucks", doesn't always mean they know more than everyone else.

None of us/you have the qualifications to evaluate any position on this football team. So when you get on here and start threads proclaiming that this QB is the answer, this one is this or that, your doing nothing more than stating your opinion. An unqualified opinion. You do realize that it means absolutely nothing. Right?

The bottom line is that CBJ and staff will play who they feel is the best. Period. Makes no difference what you or I think. We can all get on here and argue until the cows come home and it won't make a damn bit of difference.

I'm not qualified to evaluate the QB position. I see what everyone else sees, but thats it. I/we do not have the ability to evaluate these players on a deep enough level.

None of us are experts. That is why we pay the staff the big bucks knowing that they have the experience and knowledge to do the job.

Whats even more frustrating is that when someone has the lest bit of criticism for this staff they are mostly labeled negavols. Yet when it comes to the QB situation the very members that shout the loudest about trusting CBJ are the ones questioning him the most.

Can't have it both ways. Either you trust him or not.

For exactly 1 game, it appears that Dobb's is UT's only hope for a winning season or at least to stop the bleeding at 6-6.
With only 4 games left, suddenly Vol's have a QB that gives the offense a different dimension...
Hello Butch, do you still think red shirting Dobb's was a good decision?
Obviously not......could we have had a much better season with Dobb's at QB? Butch? Hello Butch

You are right.I have been a fan of his since day one, yet I am guilty as charged. I believe it is total frustratton and a heavy dose of impatience. In truth Kermit the frog could be our QB if he moves the ball. We put up almost 400 yards on Bama that makes a statement to me.

I don't know the reasons Coach Jones has for doing things the way he has with the QB's. It's hard for me to believe that anything could have helped us more in every aspect than beating Florida or Georgia. I think with Dobbs we beat Florida and maybe Georgia. Don't get me wrong I think Worley is as tough as they come and I'm proud that he is a Vol but anyone can see that Dobbs is the perfect fit for this offense. Especially when you consider our O-Line problems. If nothing else I just hope the Peterman conversation is over with.

I believe op about the reason dobbs was trying to rs. I think to him and his family, school is as important as football. football is only a career to some and there is no certainty that dobbs makes it to the league.

I will also add, if you guys think our qb's are going to hit it up in the middle and lower their shoulder in practice running this offense and allow AJ or someone to knock them out, you need to see a practice. People talk about practice and how he looked, but nobody saying that has seen one to judge for themselves. Practices are mechanical and there are a lot of good practice players that can't do chit on the field under the lights and lot of players that don't practice as well but do well in games because games aren't the same as practice and football instinct takes over.
