Watchin' him today was pissin me off, worse yet even though he was "shootin" in at people he never once laid a decent lick on any of those half-hearted attempts.

it's almost like he'd rather put a big hit on someone after letting them catch the ball rather than breaking up a pass, because laying someone out is the more spectacular play. he did that on desean jackson in the cal game.

jackson turned around and jumped and caught the ball. hefney was behind him but instead of coming up and positioning himself to bat the ball away he held back for a sec, then timed his run to lay a nice hit on him after he'd caught the ball for a 30 yard game.

Hefney could have been a first day pick if he'd left after last season. Now I could see him going undrafted.

Sometimes I think that comes from watching too much NFL and not getting enough coaching on fundamentals. Sports are all about the ball and your relative position to it and the goal (endzone, rim, whatever). Yet, professionals are put on a pedestal for making a spectacular play instead of a fundamental one.

That's a whole other soap box...

the leadership thing has bugged me all season. it doesn't seem that we have the outspoken leader type player on this team on neither offense or defense. i might be wrong but i'm just calling it like i see it.

UT players were "shoulder bump" tackling all game, and NEVER wrapping up. When one player does, its their fault....we almost EVERY player on the D does it, its a coaching issue. You cant tackle like that in D1A football and not get trucked repeatedly.

When the coach doesn't lead, isn't it safe to assume the players will follow suit

Can we just give him his 25-year pin and send him home? It seems he's been there since the Nixon administration.

He reminds me of Teddy "Give Up The Big" Gaines who outlasted two position coaches, a band director and four or five Smokey's and finally left due to extreme old age.

Hefney must be hitting the bong with coker.Nah reall yand truely heffney is just playing out of position.He come to us a highly touted player.I believe he was on the offensive side of the ball before he got here.We turn him into a cb.Then move him to safety.He has never tackled well.That can be said for our whole team though.

Sure, he gets lucky now and then -- and believe me... it IS LUCK and not SKILL -- when he makes a play, but overall...

I havent seen the shoulder bump work well since wee pee football.

UT's definition of a defensive back is a wide receiver who can't catch the ball.

Seriously, UT hasn't recruited a DB in ages. They just apply the theorem above.
