Jonathan Crompton... (merged)

He is total garbage.

And the sad thing is his attitude is even worse than his play on the field.

I'm not sure a/b his attitude a/b his teammates and stuff, but sitting by yourself, w/ your head down, not looking ur coach in the eye when's he talking, he should have been bench for disrespect

The trash , garbage comments are a little harsh. He just isn't good period. I'm going to reframe from calling the kid names. He's trying his hardest i guess, that's the sad part. Unfortunate for him and the fans, program alike. Its times like these that will make us appreciate where we'll be in a few years. Kiffin didn't step into a situation as good as the last coach did.

I don't think you are a jerk. Maybe my post wasn't clear enough. I wasn't saying give him a break for his poor play, I was referring to the name calling and such. He played poorly and the QB get the most attention and the most blame, that's life. If you can't handle it, find something else to do.

I was referring to the name calling/personal insults etc. And that's me being honest about Crompton or any other kid who plays college ball.

okay, i'll go w/ tht, but i didn't do that. So i gotcha and wat your saying, i'll agree w/ tht

:hi:

Have you listened to an interview?

And the body language is garbage as well.

I have not listened to an interview, but yes, the body language is garbage, which i previously agreed with.

Indeed. UT just doesn't have the hosses right now.

Crompton may very well be better than Stephens in PRACTICE.. but as we all know Cromptons practice game does not translate over to the REAL GAME. this doesn't mean Crompton is better than Stephens, is just means he beat him out in PRACTICE with seems to be Crapton's strong suit. Stephens is known as more of a gamer anyways which is what we need. He can make all the throws Crapton can so why not give him the chance.. Although next week might not be the best time for that b/c we don't want to destroy his confidence too, but I say start stephens from here on out for the future

If any quarterback doesn't want to get blamed for a loss then he shouldn't throw 5 int's..

I saw Crompton after the game on Channel 10. I don't know this guy, but he comes across rather cocky. He said "I thought I saw the field real well today." That was unbelievable because he sure never saw any of the orange jerseys on the field then followed that up with even as bad as "we" played "we" almost won. I hope Kiffin heard those statements. Time for Crompton to call it a career at UT. Maybe he could do well at fantasy football?

if they retired peyton manning's number, they ought to do the same for crompton. for every superlative you can think of applying to manning, i can supply one for crompton.

I'm really sick of hearing that "TWO STAFFS" have agreed Crompton was the best player so all you guys who say Nick Stephens should start don't know wtf you're talking about.

1. David Cutcliffe one of the greatest QB coaches in the world, Peyton, Eli, making Ainge and Tee good...basically thought Jon Crompton was worth less than a truck full of used tampons. Crompton's Dad has said many times that Jon and David did not get along. I wonder why? He never thought Crompton was QB material and Coleman was his going to be his guy had he stayed.

2. Dave Clawson did not want to start Crompton. Fulmer made him name Crompton the starter even though Dave did not want to. This is not conjecture there are many of those who are close to the program and Clawson who said as much. When someone asked Clawson what the first thing the new OC at UT should do he said name BJ starting QB.

So NO, besides Fulmer no one on staff including 2 of the 3 offensive coordinators Crompton has played under thought he was worth a damn. Nick Stephens belongs behind center. I don't care who you are you turn the ball over 5 times (yes I'm counting the offsides interception) miss a wide open Gerald Jones for a touchdown and Luke Stocker) YOU DON'T PLAY. Period.

If we keep playing Crompton we will keep throwing int after int. Two against Western Kentucky? If not for our defense we get blown out against a UCLA team we are physically superior to. I do not want to live through another year just to have a team ready to play and Crompton throwing more to the other team than to ours.

Does nobody remember that Stephens sucked as badly as Crompton last year? UT fans clamored and clamored for a change, and then when we got it, it basically wasn't any better than when Crompton was playing. And yet here we are again, and somehow people think that it would play out differently this time.

I mean, I'd be happy to see Crompton permanently benched too, but it's not like I suddenly think things would get meaningfully better with Stephens on the field. All of Kiffin's QB options (including Coleman, had he stayed) were crummy.

Put in Gerald Jones at QB. Let him run half the time and throw once in a while to keep the defense honest. He did play QB in high school, and he damn sure won't throw the ball any worse than Crapton. Let's salvage what we can after Florida dismantles us.

Well, isn't he right about that part? We were 1/2 yard away from a win...

But he definitely didn't see the field well at all...

:banghead2:

But the way Crompton played. 5-7 Last year may seem like a good goal this year. There is no SEC Team that would allow us to turn over the ball that many times and only win by 4.

If we throw 4 - 5 Picks against Vandy or Ky we will lose by 20+ points.

I hate to think what FL, AL, GA, and hell even AU are going to do to us.

I admit it is one game... But looking at the overall body of work he has shown for 1 1/2 previous years that under pressure he can't hit the broadside of a barn with a scope.

You know what. I would say Gerald Jones, Former HS QB is probably the best one on the team. Hell, lets go Vick Style on them if we have to. He can't be any worse that the two we have.

Ok ignore the Jones post, that might be taking it a bit far but come on. Someone on that team has played QB before. Even if it was in Junior High. Lets be honest here. If we had not thrown 1 pass the entire game. WE WOULDN"T HAVE TURNED IT OVER 5 TIMES. At least one of their scores would not have happened.

I have never been so sick in my life.
