Jonathan Crompton... (merged)

No thanks. 2 coaching staffs selected Crompton over BJ. He barely won the starting job at UTC. Yesterday he threw 2 interceptions and lost to Furman.

Damn, hold the phones. Furman, who was very much expected to beat UTC, intercepted two passes of Colemans and they lost? Is that somehow worse than 5 INTs (still counting the one he threw that was called back, an INT is an INT) and a loss to a team UT should've beat? It's not my call, of course, but, at some point, you have to try something else. Once again, it looks like this staff, as the last one, is going to give JC the benefit of the doubt. We'll see if it works out as well as it did last year.

I cant watch Crompton again. Last season about did me in. I dont care how good he is in practice, it doesnt translate on the field on Saturdays. I think they made a huge mistake with BJ Coleman and now think they should go right to Nick Lamaison. Get this kid some experience in the SEC and see what we have in him.

Then, I will. I recorded the game and I've been "watching film"

Anyone want to explain how a QB can go 13/26 for 93 yards... 3 INTS and a fumble, and somehow pull off a win?

Well. what about the playcalling at the goal line at 4th and goal? What would you have done with a QB that's already thrown for 3 INTS? Let him throw another one? No, they did exactly what they needed to do, and came up a yard short. Get the safety, and get another shot with plenty of time. Too bad Crompton blew it.... again

Well, what about the missed tackles on Defense? Granted, some of our young guys missed some tackles, and UCLA had one good drive at the beginning of the game. Our D was good, hell they were damn good. You can't expect a D to stay on the field for as long as they did, DUE TO THE TURNOVERS, and be productive the whole time.

Well, what about the lack of the rushing game? The announcers said it a few times. UCLA stacks the line becuase they know Tennessee is running. Tennessee is obviously running because...? JC can't hit wide open wide outs unless they are wearing blue and yellow.

That I noticed, 4 times JC missed wide open WRs that would have been TDs, 2 in the endzone. Playcalling is a ***** if your QB sucks, so I'm not blaming the coaches here.

But, if JC is so bad, why not pull him? Do you agree with not pulling JC at halftime? Yes. Lane is not Phil, Lane said he didn't like flopping QBs around, let JC get a couple completions and get some rhythm to pull the W. I think the coaches and the fans have figured out JC is just not good enough. He's not a winner, he's an excuse maker, he has been since he's been here.

Nick Stephens MAY be our starter next year, why not go ahead and let him get a taste of it? I hope they do

Just my :twocents:

also doesn't change these words from UCLA defensive back Rahim Moore, who picked off two of Crompton's passes: "On film, (Crompton) would look guys off. He didn't look anybody off today. Where he was looking was where he was throwing."................We cant win a game with him at QB.

That was driving me absolutely INSANE.

Nobody said it was worse. 2 Coaching staffs say he is worse. It just says that BJ was not the answer.

I hope your last post from a year ago wasn't as bad as this one. I guess we'll hear from you again this time next year for your 3rd post.

if you dont think everyone is pinning this on crompton, maybe you need to read some threads.
Stephens will start this year after the UF game.

All I can say is that 1-2 won't look like such a bad start for a team that doesn't have a quarterback.

We need a good plan for the Fla game. Now...if we can get the gators to go along with this...I say we swap team colors for one game. JC throws td after td to the orange/blue and we win the game. Waddya think?

Should be 2-1 after this week. Vols have got to win the winnables---1 if which was ucla. 8-4 just went by. 7-5 at best now.

I am going to say this VERY LOUD----CROMP CAN'T CUT IT!!

did anyone else notice when they showed the team over on the sideline during a timeout and the leaders of the team were trying to get the team pumped up and show some determination it was erric berry and another (didnt see his name or #) in the middle showing leadership and crompton was no where in the picture, shows hes not a leader of the team and doesnt have what it takes to convince the guys in the huddle he can lead them down the field when it matters

What about the o-lines inability to provide enough protection for Crompton? How can your QB be succesful when he has a defensive player in his face after the snap? How can you expect your QB to make plays when he's constantly being flushed out of the pocket, forcing him to make plays (which he's obviously not the best at)? This isn't just Cromptons fault. The o-line put him in a situation to not do well.

Honestly, haven't had time to read any threads, just wanted to vent. Still a little angry, like everyone else I'm sure

O line was pretty bad, but played well enough for JC to make better decisions than he did. All 3 INTs was just JC throwing it right to the defender with hardly any rush from the D

Tennessee coaches should be holding open tryouts Monday after this one too are who can throw the ball to the Tennessee guys instead of a colorblind guy like crompton who has to watch his receiver the whole time instead of getting the timing down right and knowing where they should be

Don't want to take any blame away from Cromptom, but Cody Sullins was manhandled all day long....I'd like to see McNeil get healthy!

If you think Crompton is bad just wait till Stephen plays he sucks! You guys have a short memory! We don't have a good QB but Crompton is the best we have right now like it or not. Also the O line didn't help much either. Good or Bad I love me some Big orange football!

The one play that really get's me is when G. Jones was running across the middle of the field WIDE open & somehow Crompton was able to find the Saftey 10 yards away from the reciever. If Crompton hits G Jones in stride thats 6!

Maybe we'd better ask the UCLA QB that same question!
