Newbie here so don't crucify me, but here's the way I see it. Having watched Crompton last year, I was for sure that Stephen's would get the start this year. I know the coaches like to say the job is up for grabs until they name a starter, but logic has got to come into play somewhere. Stephens would have been in my opinion the logical pick in order to get some experience under his belt. Not that I would expect a magical season from the kid, but it was obvious to me after last season the Crompton didn't have what it takes to lead this team to an SEC Championship, much less National title. It really would have been valuble in the sense that perhaps Stephens could grow throughout the season and perhaps compete for the SEC next year. I really didn't expect us to compete this season, new coach, young kids and all, but I feel this falls on Kilffin. Crompton made the reads, but was slow to react. He was to conservative in his decisions to make the pass ultimately resulting in the INT's. He tried to be a leader late in the third and I commend him for that, but to be a leader on the field you have to be decisive and react. You can't delay and second guess. Basically, you can be a straight "A" smart a**, but what good are you if you don't speak up until the last minute. The chance to change destiny has passed you by and if this was NASA god forbid, APOLLO 13 wouldn't have made it home. It might not be Stephens, it might not be Coleman, but we won't know until we see them on the field, put into the position to make that split second decision. I expect a loss next week against Florida, yet I think to lose to S.Carolina and S. Spurrier would be more humiliating. Lets just hope L. Kilffin learns a lesson from this. Jason Garrett (Offensive Coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys) was never the impressive QB he was expected to be, but he turned out to be a hell of an "Offensive Coordinator". If Crompton came so prepared and so smart, then maybe that's his roll on this team. He can still contribute to the team, I just don't think it will be on the field.
