UT has been on the verge of an offensive collapse for years. The talent just isn't there. Last year we hit rock bottom and this year we still don't have the talent. The most glaring problem of course is at quarterback. If the recruiters can't get a Division I level quarterback into this program, many head coaches may be losing their jobs.
How do we get the talent? Where the hell is it?
I so agree with this......Jon has proven again and again his inadequacy to play in the big game or any game for that matter...I can only imagine whats gonna happen to us when he plays in front of gators when he couldnt do anything playing in front of 100,000 vols....
One of those interceptions was due to throwing across his body to the wide side of the field. A long throw begging to be picked off. I know it was the 2nd option on the pass play, but seemed like a poor play call.
One of the other interceptions was an overthrow, about 3 or 4 yds over G Jones's head. That was on Crompton. If he'd get a little air under the ball and give the receivers time to adjust, he wants to throw everything on rope which is great if your accurate, he's not.
Excellent analysis. :hi:
It's not just one game, as some of you are saying in this thread. JC completely fell apart in the 2nd half, and then Kiffin consistently ran the ball because he didn't trust JC to throw it. What can Kiffin do now except bench JC and start NS?
Thanks Billy
Does anybody remember the "tight" competition for the starting spot at qb during the first two weeks of fall camp?
If the competition was as tight as the press led us to believe, how in the world can CLK not give Stephens the benefit of a doubt?
I agree with everyone that Crompton is terrible and we will definitely not win against Florida, but he should still start. The reason he should start is because no matter who plays in the Swamp it will turn out badly for them. So I think you start Crompton and let him stare down his receivers and throw 7 interceptions. Then, Kiffin should start Stephens against Ohio at home. I think it could really mess with Nick Stephens confidence if Kiffin starts him in the swamp... IMO...

I just still can't believe so many people are saying Kiffin is a terrible coach after the SECOND DAMN GAME. Sometimes reading these grammatically nightmarish posts make me wonder if I'm living in the twilight zone. What the hell did any of you expect? We knew what we had in Crompton...it's WHY WE HAVE ALL BEEN DYING TO SIGN A QB!
Stop having such unrealistic expectations...find some patience, make sure you are using the terms "your" and "you're" correctly, and just see what happens. We've had one fantastic game (against an obviously lesser team), and one pretty frustrating game (against a fairly even team). Things will pan out. Chill with the faux outrage.
It is hard to blame a coach for a QB that was given to him. I still like Fulmer and Kiffin. You absolutely must have a play maker @ QB.
Billy is the poster who complimented me on a previous post Cotton.
You may be right about 2 coaching staffs coming to the same conclusions about our best option at QB.
I'd just like to see Stephens prove he is less of a QB than Crompton on the field.
