Jonathan Crompton... (merged)

I just got back from the game.....

1. Crompton played horrible. As bad as he must have looked on TV, he looked worst live. He missed multiple open recievers. On the goal line where he threw to Cottom (i think) in the back of the endzone, he had Cooper and Teague only overed by one reciever, but he chose to throw it into TRIPLE coverage. This is not the only one. I could give you many examples.

2. The Defense should get more credit then they are recieving. They were put in aweful positions but held them to a field goal or stop completely. Great job D.

3. Dont critisize the play calling. I was scared everytime we threw the ball. We were getting 3-4 yards consistantly every run. With Crompton playing one of the worst games I have ever seen, why not take the more consistant and safe route. I am not upset with the playcalling one single bit.

4. We are going to get throtlled next week. I thought Crompton had turned the corner, but D2 (Cromptons nickname, because thats where he should be playing) showed his same old ways again. I would not want to be him this week.

5. I wish we would put Stephens in, and if nothing else build for next year because Crompton is going to cut it like this.

With all that said, I will support whoever is played. GBO.

I agree with the fact that Jonathon Crompton struggles with the mental aspect of Quarterbacking big games but one thing I was questioning and why is the heck was D. Moore and G. Jones in the game so much? Jones hasnt practiced consistently with the team all season and Moore hasnt either. Crompton was not on target with Moore or Jones. There were at least 3 plays where Jones did not run the route Crompton called including the last offenstive play of the game. Where were Teague and Nu'Keese? They had a great game in the last game. Why put in Moore and Jones? Gradually work those two in bc they are not 100%. Hancock had an ok game but even he dropped a nice pass over the middle. In summary, we lost this game bc we were one demensional. If Crompton has even an average game we win. Kiffin can only call the plays that he feels Crompton can make. Which arent many.

I'm pretty new on this board and you all do not know me very well, but some you "Fans" on here make me sicker than the Vols did today. I agree Crompton sucked and some of the play calling was bad but you all act like we were supposed to when a national championship this year with a new coaching staff and a bunch of freshman, come on now, seriously, I think alot of people got their hopes up way to much. Everyone should just calm down and take a deep breath, enjoy football season while it is here. I want to win just as bad as everyone else but in a way I'm kind of glad we lost i know it sounds weird but maybe it will bring everyone back down to earth.

Pathetic.

you are a complete fake a hole fan. praise them like they can win the nc last week and now curse them cause they loose a close game. are there areas to improve? of course, but i for one refuse to boo or bad mouth any of the guys no matter how they played.

You have a good name.

The offensive line was going against big time talent. The defense was put in a horrible position the whole time.

Everyone knows that if Central Michigan gave us their QB for this game we would have won by 4 TDs. That is why it is appropriate to call out Crompton who gave a crappy and lame speech much too late to make a difference and who honestly could not have played worse if he had been paid to lose the game.

He stared down his receivers and threw crappy balls.

Also our TEs looked really bad in running routes that never came back to the balls. One of those picks may have been more than 1 persons fault.

Hardesty played great, the defense played great, poor Oku never had a chance to show anything.

I could not be more ashamed of my team. I did believe in JC and I never will again.

If JC beats Florida I will still say he is a head case of a QB who sucks like a Hoover

Jonathan Crompton should be benched for the rest of the year. No matter what else happens, I would rather lose with Lamaison than have that guy out there breaking my heart.

how about jones running the wrong route in the last series

went to him twice in the last series and he ran the wrong route

I'm sure b.j. coleman is having a laugh tonight. We will have just the worst passing attack in football for the second straight year. You know it's bad when you try to run the ball in twice from the opponent's six yard line--when you haven't run the ball all that well during the game. That was Kiffin waving the white flag on our passing tame--but he has to take responsibility for staying with crompton. I will say it again: Stephens wasn't great last year--but he was better than crompton.

Lol @ the Crompton lovers. ANYONE with a brain that sat through last season should have seen this coming. BUT NOOOOOOO the orange kool-aid was just toooooo thick. Someone bump my "We've already lost to FL if we start Crompton..." Thread.

And I'm not happy that I was right, trust me I'm UT's#1Fan and I would have, as I stated several times, been happy to eat crow. Sadly I won't be.

Go VOLS!

Excellent description. Yes, our "offense" was limited by lack of any passing capability today. Strictly one dimensional and easily defended by an UCLA defense when it counted (goal line). BTW - I thought the Bruins D played pretty well. I thought our D played a hell of a game. Coaching? Ours sucked. Quarterback & passing game? Well - Crapton picked up where he left off last season. No death threats please but he's just not cut out to play big time D I football, especially in the SEC. Bench him now, start your most talented QB and develop for next season.

TJ Leifheit may have liked it because he knows that he could have walked on the field as a high school player and done better than Sullins.

Here is the bottom line, Jonathan Crompton absolutely sucks so miserably that many fans will not go to another game this season if he is not replaced as the starter.

You sure are singing a different tune than you were 3 weeks ago. I hope you're prepared to disappear forever.

You made the bet.

5 turnovers is absolutely unacceptable and hats off to the Defense for even keeping it close after that atrocious effort by the Crapton

He should have had the guts to stick it out.

It's no surprise we all know he's a practice player. When you gotta suit it up for real he chokes. That last drive is what QB's dream of their whole lives for that exact moment. What does he do? Crumbles under the pressure. CLK and CJC need to re-evaluate him and Stephens. Stephens will take care of the ball and get us into good situations. I don't know Crompton doesn't seem like a D1 QB. Look at other BCS schools and their QB situation. Seems like everyone has a QB that can manage to move the ball half way decent. He just doesn't get it.

I've been pulling for this kid to get his act together as long as anybody. JC has had more chances than anyone int he business world that would have been fired 10 times over with this kind of performance. JC single handedly cost us this game today and is a total lost cause. He has too many demons in his head and just can't get it done.

Get Nick in the game and lets win some football games!!

I have to go with you. There is something in his head that he can't shake!:

What bet are you talking about? I said the offensive line would be better and it has been much better. Are you seriously that much of a complete freaking idiot that you think JC being a mental midget for the ages gets blamed on the line?

The only person who sucks is the walk on who replaced a 2nd team all american. That injury occured after the "bet".

You seriously make me laugh on a real tough night so thanks for being so stupid.

All I am going to say is that this coaching staff said they would put the best players on the field. If Jonathan Crompton is the best we have, it's going to be a long long year.

i would say that running the ball more and taking it out of cromptons hands would have won us this game but without holes to run through it wouldnt do much good. The loss was dissappointing, but it is a very early season and our coaching staff is not about to let these guys quit. Put nick in and let him MANAGE the game thats all we need and after this game cromptons definitely not a guy that can MANAGE the game. Make the adjustment and lets get better this season and win some games
GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!

The problem is that you can't run 9 out of 10 times and expect to move the ball against a good defense. You have to mix it up, and CLK doesn't trust Crompton enough to go down field. The one time he did he over threw Jones and was picked off. His completions were throws out of the backfield. One or two were over 10-15 yds for completions. That dog don't hunt!!!!!

When the passing game is terrible (as crompton's is), there is only one thing you can do: run. When this is the situation, the defense can concentrate on stopping the run. (Auburn last year??) Crompton IS the problem.

I understand where you're coming from and I thought we weren't going to beat ucla like we did wku. I also understand that crompton has had a whole spring summer and fall to practice and watch film. He's supposedly the most prepared player on our squad. When you have had as much time to prepare as he did for this game, and you play like that, you deserve a little crticism. When you're throwing balls across the field on a guy that had three picks in the last game, what kind of preparing have you really done? When you come out at the half and know it's important for your team to get down the field and score to get some momentum and you immediately throw a pick on a pass to a guy he shouldn't have thrown, what does that tell you about a guy mentally? I had hoped crompton could put it together and have a good season. But when a quarterback comes out and makes the mental mistakes he did, you HAVE to question him.

His number should be retired and burned never ever to disgrace Tennesee again. He threw five interceptions and kiffin laughs and keeps him in.

I would like to slap him with words. If I were him, I'd avoid message boards because nobody in the world is saying anything good about him unless they are immediate family members. I'm guessing his friends aren't his friends right now.

Wow, I am horrible.

I would LOVE to eat crow for incessively suggesting Kiffin shouldn't bench Crompton, no matter how bad he plays. Unforunately, it wasn't today.
