Yeah, yeah. I know, ANOTHER Crompton post. Bear with me.

What we witnessed yesterday is nothing short of amazing. Anyone who could walk into that house and do what he did yesterday, especially following the year he had last year, is someone with an enormous amount of character. What we saw last year was a boy who seemed to be lost. What we saw yesterday was a MAN. One who is confident and steadfast.

Lesser men would have tucked their tails and disappeared without looking back. Crompton chose to utilize the criticisms and vitriol that was spewed at him by a not-so-silent majority of people to become a better man.

Think about how hard it must have been to run through that T yesterday. I can't even imagine what his insides must have been going through, knowing that it either put up or shut up time. All I know is those cajones are big and they're brass. Thank you sir, for showing everyone they were wrong and doing so on a national platform for all of us to witness. My hat is off to you.

Crompton played very well. He looked like an entirely different quarterback yesterday. He is on his way to proving a lot of people wrong. His confidence was the key to his success. The entire attitude and focus from UT was incredible from the start.

I want to see the "Crapton" critics publicly eat crow... What a bunch of classless morons...

They seem to have disappeared like the "methane gas release" in the wind that they are.

Crompton may or may not keep this up but the abuse the kid received was way beyond pale.

I don't know if I ever called him Crapton, but I had my doubts. I loved the way he came out and competed.

He was shaky in the beginning, but he settled in. He'll get actual pressure at times from UCLA. I'll be very interested in how he handles it.

I'm new and don't know how to start a new thread. But had anyone heard anything about what Bray thought of UT?

Remember how positive we all were on Crompton when he filled in for Ainge against LSU. Then remember how he gets shaky with pressure.

He had a very good game yesterday. The play calling early on helped him settle in IMO. WKU could not pressure him at all.

Let's wait a week before we establish him as legitimate SEC QB. I hope I am wrong and will admit it if needed. The jury is still out.

Crompton really played good ball yesterday. I really liked the attitude and emotion he played with out there.

Not sure JC's one atta-boy showed "everyone they were wrong" yet nor doesn't make up for last season....because even a blind squirrel finds an acorn or two but I do agree with your lesser men statement.

I was so happy to see Jonathan play well. It was nice to see him joking around and having fun with the other guys on the sideline during the 4th quarter when Nick got to play (who also did pretty well).

This was a good confidence building game for him, next week will be the real deal...as the season goes on and he will get better. He just didn't get the clawfense last year- none of them did.

Amazing? Yes.
Suprising? Not at all.

Crompton just wasn't in a situation to succeed last year. It was very similar to the way Ainge went from looking over his shoulder to scorching SEC defenses. I think Crompton will not only live up to current expectations, but will surpass those and live up to those set last year, too.

The man got coached up for once. there are many more test he must pass, but so far, so good. i wish all the success in the world. He has been though much, hung in there, and about as deserving as anyone for success.

overreact much? And by the way the season has started. You may be able to catch a replay if interested

Even though it was a lesser opponent, there were quite a few drastic changes in Crompton.

- He was having a blast out there and looked in control of the team
- on the fumbled snap he didnt even break stride by snatching it up and making a great throw to the sideline...last year he either falls out after freaking out or trips over the ball
-accuracy....kid was on the money with some beautiful throws especially in the end zone
- he knew where everyone was going to be at...the pump fakes to make safety go where he wants them and then hitting Hancock or Teague. He was throwing a ton of balls before the WR made their last cut which made them hard to defend

Yes, Crompton looked great yesterday.......and he should have.

1) WKU's D was weaker than UT's second team D.
2) UCLA will be telling and a bell weather for his play in the SEC....his decision time in the pocket will be reduced from ~5 sec to ~3 sec.

He has not yet demonstrated that he is capable to make quick reads and the right call...that pressure never came from WKU.

That being said, I would give JC an excellent shot to make the grade next week...so save me a seat on the JC-Train! I was impressed by the entire effort on both sides of the ball....there is an energy and attitude with this team and I love it!!!

I, a Crompton critic, hereby eat my share of crow. He proved me wrong, and I couldn't be happier.

He played better today but his 2 tipped passes came from staring down receivers. Huge improvement from last year overall but lets wait and see if the deer in the headlights return when he gets pressured from a good defense.

This guy is a guy little kids oughta look up to as a hero and a good role model. He has had 4 years of counfusion, lost his coach, dealt with death threats, guilty feelings, the pressures of school, and handling the media. This guy has dealt with a lot and deserved this good game. May he also have many more! Kudos to you Crompton! A true Volunteer! :salute:

No problem being critical. He plays on a big stage. It comes with the territory. But there are limits of decency. There's really no need to try to tear someone down personally because their play disappoints you... Like somehow they've done it personally to offend the critic.

Seriously, you have got to be kidding. The tipped passes came from taking only a 3 step drop which does not give you the depth needed to seperate from the d-line. I noticed him all day looking off the d-backs and was very impressed with him. Every one needs to get off last year because first of all he had a bad ankle and second, the clawfense was horrible for everyone not just the QB's. When you cannot plant your lead foot or cannot push off your back foot with any force, sorry cannot remember which ankle was hurt, that will cause you to underthrow. I say good luck JC and prove all these armchair QB's who prob struggle just to get off the fat a$$ wrong.

Jonathan Crompton should be benched for the rest of the year. No matter what else happens, I would rather lose with Lamaison than have that guy out there breaking my heart.
