Although I'm late I must say that I'm very disappointed with this decision, but I did see it coming.

Few are upset with the decision, I'm sure the result has much more to do with it.

I never had any hope that NS was going to be able to overtake JC, but that is not because I thought JC was going to 'win' the job.

But, new year, new staff, I hope that he can grow into a QB who helps more than he hurts.

Let's cut the guy a little slack. Does anyone honestly think he WANTS to go down as one of the most, if not the most, hated Vol from last year's squad? Surely no. I think, well I hope, that it lights a fire in his belly and motivates him all year long.

V-O-L-S, GO VOLS GO!

Months before this announcement I said we'll win at least 2 games on his arm alone. I stick by it. Crompton will succeed, and we will NEED him to be in the backfield.
Just like the other times I've said this, it all depends on the UCLA game. If we lay an egg against the Bruins, all bets are off. The only problem Crompton ever had was mental.

Actually, his first year he did pretty fantastic. He was great til he got hit against Notre Dame and was out for the season. His second year his confidence was shot (very much like Crompton) thanks to a QB-by-committee. I don't know how much of this was thanks to the system, as he succeeded before and after the loss of Randy Sanders.

The problem with Crompton is he is the ultimate practice qb but totally chokes in the real game. Anybody remember UCLA. Thats when I finally turned against Phil for keeping that moron in the game in spite of his terrible play. I just hope Kiff has performed a miracle with him and he now won't choke.

I believe in Crompton. He will prove a lot of people wrong this year. He will not be the greatest player ever, but will be better than most people are hoping. Everyone deserves a second chance, and I think he'll make the most of his.

I predict that Crompton will make some plays that will impress the vol faithful. He'll make some mistakes of course, but ultimately I think he'll be ok.

I have read alot of different places about Crompton now for months. And please, dont misunderstand me, I am behind who they choose and hope they get it done cuz I am sick of medocrity for the team I love.

Anyway, I just want to say that I am also tired of hearing the excuses for Crompton...."he's been in 4 or 5 different systems", "he played hurt last year", "fans dont like him".....and my favorite "he's been through alot".....

The simple fact of the matter is excuses don't count for anything; you either do the job or you do not. Eitherway, As my 17 year old daughter says "you have to own it". She can't stand it when someone makes excuses why this or that didnt happen....she says "just own it"....alot of wisdom in that young ladies words....

...again, you either do the job or you do not.

So Jonathan, go do the job.

For what it's worth:

And while we’re on the subject of the Vols I’ll predict this: QB Jonathan Crompton is going to have a very respectable year. This offense is more quarterback friendly than the previous one and Crompton will not be asked to do things he can’t do-like throw the ball 41 times in a game (as he did at UCLA).

As Clint Eastwood once said: “A man’s got to know his limitations.” That is especially true in football.
