Last night the N Y Jets did NOT have enough players on the field and had to call a timeout...TWICE!!!

I guess the NFL Pro coaches are pathetic too, LOL.

Coaches are people and ALL people will make mistakes sometimes especially in the heat of a game where seconds are ticking off the clock.

You don't seem to know much about football because even in the NFL where players practice 10 to 12 hours per day it normally takes 2 YEARS for a team to switch to a 3-4 D, learn everything, clear up mistakes and get to where they can react instantly and play the 3-4 the way it's designed to be played.

As to Wilcox...He always wanted to move back to the Pacific NorthWest since that's home for him and you do NOT know if CDD told him he was going to make a change or not so it's just more ASSumptions and rumors which is mostly what this anti-Tennessee thread is all about.

VFL...GBO!!!

I love your posts, they help me define to my staff the difference between a follower and a leader. You should join Wikipedia and consult on "The relentless pursuit of justifying subpar performance"!

Justin HATED Knoxville, I know that for sure. Just like Layla Kiffin, west coasters typically do not assimilate well here. Justin left for two reasons ; he hated Knoxville and he knew it wasn't worth staying somewhere you hate when it is not going to get you anywhere. He still says his biggest mistake was accepting the job here, anything to the contrary is just not true.

There's NOT been 1 person with any say so at all say this is a do-or-die season for CDD...NOBODY.

The ONLY person that will make that decision is AD Hart and maybe some big $$$ boosters but the rumor is that most big boosters said NO WAY to another multi-Million $$$ buyout PLUS what it would cost to get a big name, proven coach and new coaching staff in here.

The ONLY people that said this is a do-or-die season are YOU people and NOBODY else that matters at all.

CDD wanted to switch to the 3-4 D since day 1 that he got here but he couldn't find the right coaches with ONLY 2 weeks to hire a coaching staff AND try to hold a recruiting class together and try to add some more good players to that class.

He also had to give Wilcox and the other coaches at least a 2 year contract to get them to come to Tennessee so he couldn't make the 3-4 D move until some of those contracts were over or until he could convince Wilcox and the others to leave voluntarily.

What you Grudenites do NOT know is simply amazing.

VFL...GBO!!!

No one's going to publicly give a magic number of wins needed by CDD to stay.
One thing that will definitely die is that if we go 6-6 and make no changes, I'm not buying tickets next season. That is too far of a drive for that product.
I may only represent one ticket and no donation, but I am not going to keep splurging to attend away games for this.

..... Kiffin, for goodness' sake, beat Georgia, South Carolina, and nearly Alabama with that rickety roster we had in 2009..........

Coaching does make a difference. I think with Kiffin UT won some games due to coaching. Can't say that about Dooley.

And I don't care much for Kiffin at all.

If dooley coached Bama I don't think he could win.

Bama would never use their football program in some half assed "Trading Places" movie style experiment of nature vs nurture.

Still waiting on someone to pay off their "one dollar" bet and we can wake up from this dream.

Me neither, but he is a winner. A winner finds a way to win not become an "excuse expert".

I agree dooley should have never got the job in the first place. I had to Google to find out about him and I watch college football all the time.

The fact is that the ONLY person that really KNOWS if CDD is a good coach or not is Nick Saban who happens to be the best coach in college football.

Saban trained CDD for 7 years and tried to get him to go to Bama with him too.

Saban made CDD his Assistant HEAD COACH so if Saban got sick or hurt his team would be in the best hands and that does say alot.

Nick Saban says CDD is a very good coach and will rebuild Tennessee back to a SEC title contender so I'll believe the best College football coach in the country before I'll believe a bunch of disgruntled fans with zero real knowledge of college football and how to totally rebuild a roster and team.

Gruden will NEVER coach at Tennessee but you people keep stroking yourselves and dreaming.

Saban hopes dooley stays at Tennessee for a long time so does Spurrier and everyone else. They know he can't coach

Dooleys here through 2013 like it or not. Vols will be miles ahead in 2013 compared to what we are now. We WILL play out the rest of the year well. We beat MSU big. 2014 Brings Great success and solidifies DD as head coach for years to come and this thread finally DIES:pepper:

He was a clipboard holder for Saban, I guess the waterboy for Chip Kelly would be a good hire too.

Saban also said he wouldn't be the coach at Alabama, see how that turned out.

You can rely on what someone else says, I'll stick with what I see.

4 losing seasons in 5 years as a coach.

Lastly, you haven't the slightest clue as to wether or Gruden will coach here or not. It doesn't seem likely but the thought alone seems to give some hope because Derek Dooley sure isn't providing any.

Dooleys gone Hopfully and we bring in a winner. Gruden will get Tennessee back to competing for championships.

The current head coaches of both Alabama and Florida recommended CDD, though Muschamp wasn't at UF at the time. You may view that as the best evidence that CDD is the best man for the job. I view their opinions with great concern.

I want UT to have a coach that the Bama and UF coaches and fans want to leave UT.

The current state of the program is hard for a lot of people. So, some fans come into this thread to basically chase a dream. Then, you have the Titans fan who comes in here to try to shout down others' dreams and tell us that, gasp, nothing will change, and we should like it.

Boro-vol, can you give us your list of coaches -in no certain order - you'd like to see at UT?

Gruden, obviously, way out front.

I very much like Cowher. He's been mentioned here before, though I believe he's much more of a pipe dream than Gruden.

I like Stoops, and believe he could be very effective here.

I like Jack Del Rio....he was mentioned in passing last time around. I know he has a job, but might be enticed as a HC again.

As we slide way down the list, I like Tommy Tubberville, but he would approach that realm of underwhelming. I would prefer him over Charlie Strong however.

Gruden is who i want, and really don't care much after him as long as the coach is truly qualified. Everybody outside of the first three will fail to bring the bigtime status that I really desire for my University.

The Tennessee job if it comes open will be the top job out there in college football. A lot of coaches will want the job hope its Gruden though.

I just want us to win and be competitive, I was on the Hill early to mid-90's, so expect the same type of success we had then.

I like Dooley, he won me in the press conference and lost me on the field. This thread brings me hope, if it is Gruden, so be it, but if not, this thread gives us a reason to think we might actually do a true coaching search sometime between the 29th and the beginning of the year.

It is time to pull one out. The team will have a rocking Neyland stadium, national audience and their head coach's future as motivation. When will we beat them? Next year in Tuscaloosa?

Looks like I missed quite a discussion.

In regards to your post, we will beat Bama in Tuscaloosa next when Gruden is the coach.:)
