I like Strong. Any defensive minded person should like him. I would be lying if I said that I would be let down if that's the case. However, either is better than the status-quo. I'm still hanging my hat with Gruden until he is here or he takes a coaching job elsewhere. I have to have hope in something, and our current coach doesn't provide me with that....at all.
at the time we didnt have much of an option since LK left in a hurry. We hired a guy with a losing record and paid him like he was a guy with a losing record. Right now he's the #11 in ranking of the salary in the SEC.
Should we have paid more? well yeah but again, we didnt have the luxury of time to find a better hire. We were days from NSD. We bought a band aid instead of a surgery hoping it would fix the problem. Unfortunately it hasnt.
We had the luxury of a quality interim which would have given us the time we needed. a quality coach that wanted to be here got screwed in that deal.
An interim would have solved a lot of problems.
I think we only disagree on the timing and how it will play out.
I'll disagree on that. I've never been fan of interim because rarely does it work out. The interim coach has nothing to lose and everything to gain so he plays looser. Once losing does begin to matter the mindset changes. Phil worked but it could have just as easily backfired. If the interim begins to win then you're almost forced to hire him, regardless if there are more proven coaches.
how's it worked for Arkansas?
This Dave Hart drama could not come at a worse time for the Grudenite faithful.
I had been told of this dissatisfaction many alumni of influence had for Hart early last week.
If the leadership in the AD is in question, it's going to be tough to land a big time replacement coach.
Everyone has ideas and wants their ideas to be heard. However, they all want to win. They would all rally around a winner being hired.
