What exactly is the fascination with Gruden? He had the one good year but finished barely over .500 after 7 years.

Name a team that Bama has not whipped up on this year? If that is the deciding factor then every school that plays Bama would be looking for a new coach. Bama is ranked #1 for a reason, they are solid on both sides of the ball. I seriously doubt that Hart would even think in these terms, Hart is fully aware of where our roster currently is and he is aware of the challenges involved this season.

What? Just no.

^^^ This is 100% factual ^^^

Well stated Gman and a likes thumbs up for you buddy.

Careful though buddy because alot of Grudenites can't stand facts or logic and ignore them and some will ignore you too like they did me, LOL.

VFL...GBO!!!

Wow, the pot and kettle speaks.

You armchair football experts amaze me, LOL.

If any 1 of you really knew college football then you would have a high paying job as a coach.

Exactly NONE of you knows if CDD is a good coach or not because we have NOT had a 2 deep player roster that can compare to the top SEC teams but we're getting there faster than most experts believed was possible.

Nick Saban IS the best college coach and recruiter in the country by far and I hate the guy.

1.Saban says CDD is a really good coach and CDD was so good that Saban made CDD his assistant HEAD COACH so if he was injured or sick Saban would know his team would be in very good hands.

2.CDD was Sabans Recruiting Coordinator that helped build and coach LSU to a SEC and National Champonship wins and he can bring out his 2 Championship rings to show off anytime he desires and there's not many other coaches that can do that to impress recruits or say they were trained for 7 years by Nick Saban.

Saban could have fired CDD and replaced him at any minute but he tried to get CDD to go to alaBubba with him and stay on his staff.

3.THINK people...If CDD is smart enough to graduate college and then Law school and pass the BAR exams to become an attorney then he must be smart enough to learn most everything from Nick Saban after 7 years being taught by him.

If we want to WIN against Saban and alaBummrt then it's logical to hire a HC that knows the man and how he thinks inside out because we DO have to play alaBubba every year and 2 times when we win the SEC East and go to the SEC Championship game.

4.We almost beat the 5th ranked team in the nation and if only 2 or 3 plays went differently we could have Won that game so we ARE getting close but we just don't have enough NFL prospect on our team YET like the best SEC teams have.

Nobody knows how well CDD can coach when we have enough really good players on our team but 5.I'll believe Saban, the best college football coach in America, before I'll believe a bunch of fans that haven't learned how to be a little patient yet.

6.I'm NOT a fan of CDD, I'm a fan of the Tennessee Vols but we are NOT going to get a better coach now if we fire CDD with only 1/2 of the rebuilding job done.

7.You all seem to forget that NOBODY would put their coaching career on the line to come to UT except for CDD and the situation isn't much different and neither is our lack of money.

My opinions mean nothing to you people anyway but there is is anyway.

VFL...GBO!!!

1. What else is he going to say?
2. You already stated Saban was the best recruiter in the world, so, how hard was Dooleys job as coordinator?
3. Smart people do not always = Great Head Football Coaches. Besides, a sensible person would view the way Dooley handled gametime coaching and wonder if he learned anything from Saban.
4. Another song about moral victories. Sorry, I don't dance to those tunes.
5. I, like many others have been patient. If it were strictly just a lack of talent, that would be one thing. What people like you either don't or simply refuse to see is that it is not only the players that seem to be on a learning curve at Tennessee. It is also the coaching staff. We can't afford that and realistically expect to compete with our rivals.
6. I strongly have doubts on this one.
7. You like to play this as if Dooley were some kind of saint for coming here. Fact is, with the contract he was given, the man would have been stupid to have not taken the job. It was and still is a win/win situation for him. Win? Get paid. Lose? Get paid.

So, you are saying that we should just give up?:mf_surrender:

Bama did not go undefeated last year. I am tired of bowing at the Saban altar. We need a coach that will go head to head with him schematically, in the recruit's living rooms and in the media. We think Gruden is the answer. I do know that making his tight-end coach our head coach is not the answer.

Haven't given it much thought.

I'm gonna say no.

Am I right?

I don't know.

The only point I am trying to make is perhaps Tech hired Dooley with the same hopes we did. The Saban connection would translate to Saban success. As time drags on, it is getting clearer that this is not going to happen. I think Tech may have figured it out after we did them a favor and hired him away. Now, it is time Tennessee figure it out.
