This is something folks need to understand. This is likely the easiest schedule UT has had or will have for some time. An 8-4 or even 9-3 record could very well be fool's gold. Some fans will be convinced Dooley has it fixed and then next year comes, bringing everything crashing down and back to reality.

Probably the easiest since 2009

Oh wait

We could compare the UGA and USCe scores this year to that year's scores... and decide on Dooley's fate based on that comparison, if you'd like to do it that way.

Or if you like to talk about the pansies on the schedule, a comparison of Akron this year versus WKU that year could work.

How about the Bama game... we don't have that score yet?

The 2009 squad with CLK would blow out this one with Dooley... and I don't recall CLK throwing players under the bus or spending the year complaining about what Fulmer left. Instead he did his job and accepted responsibility for the outcomes.

If you think CDD has shown as much progress in rebuilding the program in three years as CLK showed in one, you're absolutely nuts.

No

He threw the whole University under the bus

I will never understand taking up for someone who **** all over UT. Mind blowing

The point was not about taking up for CLK and what he did ... it was simple. When he was hired.... it made sense. When Dooley was hired, it was stupid.

Stay on the decision at hand... it's about Dooley, not Kiffin.

Let's wait until November.

In 1977 the Vols started 0-5 in the SEC for the only time in their history Pre-Dooley. Unless we get an upset in October, Dooley will have started 0-5 in the SEC three consecutive years.

Is the SEC tougher now than 5 years ago?

They both had career losing records as head coaches

What made sense about either?

One has already proven to be a bad hire

This one may be well on its way

At least this one cares about UT

So the SEC is not tougher?

Wow

Dude, the SEC won the national championship 6 years in a row. Florida, Alabama, and LSU were pretty solid teams then. The 2009 Gator team would donkey stomp our current team.

Or is your point that the bottom of the conference is better now? That is, the 2011 Vols are better than the 2009 Commodores?

BTW, Spud's point isn't even about 5 years ago; it's about how Dooley may create more stench around the UT program than any other coach has been able to do in the history of the program.

Detractors can say what they want about this thread. Gruden may never be our coach but I really think a change has to be coming. If nothing else, this thread gives me something our current staff does not; hope.

kiffin didn't "care" about UT the day he was hired or the day he left. He was in it for the money, waiting around for his dream job.

Well, see Sandusky took these little boys into the showers at Penn State...it was in the news.....not ringing a bell?

My bad, I wasn't thinking of him being from Sandusky Ohio being related to Jerry Sandusky in any way. I was think more along the line of him being from Sandusky (Metro Cleveland) and Haslam offering him mega $$$$ to come home and coach the Browns.

Even if he goes 1-4, it isn't worthy of him being back, and IMO 2-3 isn't either.

You armchair football experts amaze me, LOL.

If any 1 of you really knew college football then you would have a high paying job as a coach.

Exactly NONE of you knows if CDD is a good coach or not because we have NOT had a 2 deep player roster that can compare to the top SEC teams but we're getting there faster than most experts believed was possible.

Nick Saban IS the best college coach and recruiter in the country by far and I hate the guy.

Saban says CDD is a really good coach and CDD was so good that Saban made CDD his assistant HEAD COACH so if he was injured or sick Saban would know his team would be in very good hands.

CDD was Sabans Recruiting Coordinator that helped build and coach LSU to a SEC and National Champonship wins and he can bring out his 2 Championship rings to show off anytime he desires and there's not many other coaches that can do that to impress recruits or say they were trained for 7 years by Nick Saban.

Saban could have fired CDD and replaced him at any minute but he tried to get CDD to go to alaBubba with him and stay on his staff.

THINK people...If CDD is smart enough to graduate college and then Law school and pass the BAR exams to become an attorney then he must be smart enough to learn most everything from Nick Saban after 7 years being taught by him.

If we want to WIN against Saban and alaBummrt then it's logical to hire a HC that knows the man and how he thinks inside out because we DO have to play alaBubba every year and 2 times when we win the SEC East and go to the SEC Championship game.

We almost beat the 5th ranked team in the nation and if only 2 or 3 plays went differently we could have Won that game so we ARE getting close but we just don't have enough NFL prospect on our team YET like the best SEC teams have.

Nobody knows how well CDD can coach when we have enough really good players on our team but I'll believe Saban, the best college football coach in America, before I'll believe a bunch of fans that haven't learned how to be a little patient yet.

I'm NOT a fan of CDD, I'm a fan of the Tennessee Vols but we are NOT going to get a better coach now if we fire CDD with only 1/2 of the rebuilding job done.

You all seem to forget that NOBODY would put their coaching career on the line to come to UT except for CDD and the situation isn't much different and neither is our lack of money.

My opinions mean nothing to you people anyway but there is is anyway.

VFL...GBO!!!

Not a fan of CDD but he can return us to glory because he coached for Saban?

Interesting logic.
