Thanks for the agreement, but what did Brown do at UNC that was different? 7-8 wins. That had been done there before.

UT fans need to bite their ego a little. This is not a factory of football excellence. I love UT, but 2 NC's in 58years. Many more 7-8 win seasons than 10-11 win years. UT is a very good program, but I can name 20 teams that are as good if not better over the same period of time.

Give Turner Gill the reigns. African-American coach that has turned around a doormat into a pretty good football team (better than Wyoming...so better than UT). He came from a proven winner at Nebraska, so you know he is close with Osborne and has connections around the NCAA. He is a great recruitor. All kids know his name and what he did as a player at one of the greatest football schools from 1970-1999. Look at the big picture here....what a great hire and social mandate that would be. JMO!

Don't get me wrong.... I agree with you. I was just using your comment to back up (validate) what Leach and Kelly had done with similar programs (similar to UNC)...

Year in year out, Kelley and Leach need to beat 2 teams. SEC...you must compete with GA, Fla, AU, Bama, LSU, Ark (that is six)

kansas and Missouri are 2 yr wonders that are not going to have staying power. Pitt?? Louisville??South Fla??? PLEASE!

I'm not a huge fan of Leach or Pinkel.

Kelly is exactly the kind of guy UT needs to look at after receiving no's from the Gruden types.

Look at what Kelly has done everywhere he's been.

Let me back up.... I am not advocating for Leach or Kelly. I was just comparing their tenure and winning percentage to that of Mack Brown.... who someone else brought up as being pretty darn successful after getting the Texas job. Just pointing out that, IMO, Kelly and Leach had similar accomplishments at their respective schools as Mack Brown had at UNC....

I'm behind ya. Point was that a HOMERUN coach is not needed or coming. Leach or Kelley are not those "homeruns". I think they would be great hires. But...What would the masses of UT "know-it-alls" think????

Turner Gill is a great coach!

Again... Gruden is NOT coming to UT! Get over it people. Why in God's name would he leave the NFL to come to a team that is the 5th best program in the SEC? He would be great here, but it ain't gonna happen.

Lets get Jeff Fisher, Tom coughlin, Sean Peyton, or Andy Reid. I'm sure they would love to do the "vol walk" 7 times a year and deal with alumni and a board of regents. UT must be the goal of every coach in North America. While we're at it..lets hire Phil Jackson, Joe Torre, and David Leadbetter to coach the basketball, baseball, and golf teams. :dance2:

It is a waste of time and brain cells reading this stuff. It will not happen.
We need to focus on reality......no "homerun" coach is leaving to come to UT. Hamilton needs to pull in a "Pearl" of a coach. Gung-ho, recruitor out the butt, young. Someone out of the box. Kiffin or Gill.

those of you who think gruden is not coming to ut, why are you even bothering reading these posts....those of us who do want gruden and are still hanging on to the thought that maybe someway somehow he may still be the next hc dont need your negativity, so go away!!! or keep your thoughts to yourself
