Jon Gruden (Tampa Bay Bucs) discussion

By the time he would be available, I would hope we already had found a coach. A guy to go after if we are still looking in January/February... But it would be dumb to wait until then and not pursue others now.

I still think its funny that the local media takes what Gruden says and declares that we must look elsewhere, but Butch Davis says basically the same thing and he is still our leading candidate

Ok, so lets assume he said it and that "UT" has not contacted him. That's does not mean that agency we hired has not contacted him.

its like christmas waiting to open a present. Could be socks. *shake* could be money *shake* could be carbine assault rifle with laser scope. i have no patience and an over eager imagination. guess ill go back to ncaa 09 and keep my own destiny going above par.

Here's hoping when its all said and done we don't get the socks.

OK, Maybe UT has not contacted Gruden, but its a safe bet that someone representing UT's interest has at least contacted Gruden.

The best thing for us would be for the Bucs to lose every game from here out. I know that is selfish but I cant help it.

No currently employed HC is going to say anything at this point. They should and will all say that it isn't happening. Why risk causing problems where you are? If Hamilton is in talks with an active coach we won't know until end of season for whatever level he is in. If he's in talks with a non-active coach we should know on or about December 1.

This seems interesting:

GoVolsXtra - From the Hill with Marcus Perez

I haven't heard this yet, have any of you? I thought this part stood out the most:

"But If Gruden signs a deal with UT, (and it has been leaked that Tampa Bay has already agreed to terms) he has a chance to coach his sons in the coming years. Remember, Tennessee is a family, and Gruden is a "father first" after all."

"So you're saying there's a chance?!"

Why not pay him $7 million/year?

Come be a legend at UT. We've got deep pockets and we're willing to take a gamble on you!

I still doubt Gruden is coming to UT, but if he is I think he would have still said the same thing. Even if he has already agreed on a deal with the Vols, I wouldn't think he would announce it until the Buc's season is over. Therefore, I think he would have said the same thing or something similar to the media today. We might have a little hope.

But I kind of agree with the article in that if Gruden wasn't interested in the job, then why didn't he come right out and just say it and then put all the rumors to rest???

There is no way he would confirm during the season, that he's in talks with us. but the fact that he didn't flat out dismiss the notion tells me that he's not secure in his position with the bucs ownership.

He had a chance to flatout deny it and he didn't take it.

I was listening to ESPN ox XM and they brought the coaching of UT up and they mentioned several but no Gruden was mentioned. They mentioned all the others Davis, Brewster, Kiffin, etc.

Is Haslam actually friends with the Glazers or is that just something some jackass member just posted?

If Mike Hamilton can bring Gruden here I will worship Mike Hamilton :worship:
