Jon Gruden (Tampa Bay Bucs) discussion

You mean you don't agree with it?

If it were someone who could start right away (I guess Kiffen is the only option here), would that coach go ahead and start doing some re-recruiting? Or would he just wait until after the season regardless?

If you're getting paid you'd better be working.

I'm not really sure I can sort out the emotions of it.

Fulmer and the team knows they'll name a replacement. Why would he feel disrepected if they announced that before the season's end?

I guess I just see hambone letting fulmer protect his turf for the last few weeks... announcing a new coach would make fulmer even more of an afterthought than he is currently. Hammy's taken care thus far to soften the blow (fulmer day, etc.)... and assuming our next coach is currently employed (unless its Kiffen), I'm not sure that announcing in 1 week versus 3-4 weeks will really make much difference.

Maybe its just a coping mechanism on my part to come to grips that we may not know anything for a while.

The Texans. He was an OC. His last season in Green Bay they didn't sniff the playoffs. The Texans didn't, either.

Thats right... But he did accept the A&M job prior to the season ending for the Texans. There was an awkward period of time where he had accepted the A&M job and recruited, etc. in his "free time" while still employed by the Texans.

It's sticky stuff, isn't it?

I'm with you on whatever coping mechanisms are helpful!:)

Hello. I've been registered for awhile now, but this is my first post. I was just kind of curious about the guy and the Steak House? He said Bud Ford supposedly had reservations for eight. I was just curious to know what was up. I really hope this Gruden talk is for real!

I don't think there are any real rules on it, just however hammy wants to play things. I just doubt he will announce anything until after the Kentucky game.

Ok, I will rephrase. Would they start paying Kiffen before the season is over to help keep the current recruits?

I'm sorta thinking that whenever a coach accept the job, he'll be too excited about it to not work whether the pay starts that day or a month later.

If we need a timecard, we got the wrong guy.

According to what Mike Hamilton said on the radio, it will be after the season before we know anything.

Hamilton said, "you guys are gonna have fun speculating over the next 5 weeks".

If you had followed Fulmers career from early 90's until 2001, you would have said the same thing about him. The numbers I just posted two post's ago don't lie. 45% winning percentage over his last full 5 seasons means he lost more than he won over that perriod. Is that what you want?

nice that you bolded one part and ignored the other. The unbolded part nullified your argument.

That's mostly what we need to know. How long will this torture last?

1100 posts after one week. how big can this thread get? how can anyone know if they are saying something that hasn't already been said. maybe we need a temporary John Gruden forum just to keep it all straight.

Without new material this topic is pretty dead. It is a waiting game will he say no or yes. No one really knows the next spark will be when he responds to a direct question about UT.

It's already the most viewed thread on a 19,000 member forum... in what, four days?

We'd like to see you at UT, Coach Gruden. Get the message?

Gruden is probably one of these new posters that has popped around here, and he is just screwing around with us????...Yeah, I bet he is that guy who keeps saying Chavis needs to be the new coach!!!

I just talked to Jon Gruden's mother-in-law.
She is obviously well aware of all that is being written and stated by many networks, sportscasters, and Tennessee fans about her son-in-law coming to coach at Tennessee. The only thing she said I could share with everyone was that "many people will be surprised."

That is freakin awesome....:birgits_giggle:

A lot of reputable posters are vouching for this guy on VC.
