Jon Gruden (Tampa Bay Bucs) discussion

if we are going to the NFL route, lets try with Josh McDaniels Offensive Coordinator of NE Patriots.....was looked at by the open spots in the NFL, but may need to get some coaching experience

How is that route working for Notre Dame?

We could only hope. He used to be a GA here so he might would like to coach here. Hope he does but not likely. But if it does happen good for us.

Not that it matters or anything, but this is from Gruden's wiki.

Jon D. Gruden (born August 17, 1963 in Sandusky, Ohio) is the current head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL. Prior to taking over as coach of Tampa Bay, he was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders for 4 years. The Buccaneers won Super Bowl XXXVII in the team's first year under Gruden's tenure, making him the youngest head coach ever to win a Super Bowl. There are reports stating that he has an agreement to become the Tennessee Volunteers head coach starting in 2009.

He turned down numerous NFL Head Coaching Jobs last off-season, if he doesn't want to be a HC in the NFL he wouldn't want to be a HC at UT.

It's on the Internet, it must be true! :whistling:

Maybe Gruden would bring Monte with him (Lane's dad has had a few decent defenses in Tampa Bay)? We can only dream.

wait do me a favor, explain to me,
two coaching vacancies were already filled las year without even abiding by guidelines of minority candidates. I don't believe he was a viable candidate. brad garret yes, but I don't think josh mcdaniels did.

he would bring some youthful ene gy and hard work ethic.

Both the Falcons and Ravens were heavily interested in him last season, but he chose to remain with New England.

I'm not trying to be a negative Ned here, but lets get real, wikipedia is not a reliable source when it comes to any news. They allow their visitors and users to post up anything they want at any given time without consent of the admins there. I would stick to hoping for a good coach and roll with it.

I hope we get what we want, but I hope we don't get screwed. Lets just get a coach who can win, who can get us hype, and who can get his players rev'd up.

Even Will Muschamp comes to mind....

100% agree. Too many people just add whatever they want without any restriction on Wiki. The sources are highly unreliable if no link is given.

I sent an email to the user asking for sources regarding the edits he made today to Gruden's page.

If you really read the 'Wiki" lowdown on Jon he seems to have always been around the right people, Mike Holmgren and Ray Rhodes. His strong suite is on offense where he's been some assistant. As a HC he has placed 1st in the division 5 of 10 times.

Generally HC's in the NFL have it tougher to maintain that constant success due to the free agency, salary cap and of course the GM and owner. Of course it does state he's signed thru 2011

After graduating with a degree in communications, Gruden started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee during the 1986 season. He found his way as the quarterbacks coach at Southeast Missouri State for two years. He then made a smooth transition to University of Pacific in 1989 as offensive assistant. He became the wide-receivers coach for the University of Pittsburgh in 1991.

please tell me you were kidding about notre dame?

didn't he have the ring that everyone thinks coach gruden has that he can walk into a recruits house and they will commit right there!
