Tennessee football is almost at the point of being irrecoverable and Gruden’s cat and mouse game made it THAT much harder for us.

The guy is kicking sand on us while we’re being buried alive.

Could have been a LEGEND...instead he should be remembered as a gutless coward impostor who claims to know football. Is nothing more than an actor putting on a show.

I still feel we could get him if we made serious offers. Much like the Kiffin hire, they had their mind made up and was just going through the motions with anyone else.

Gruden has it made in the shade. He don't need us and I'm not sure he was ever interested. Of course we may never know the truth.

Who's to say we even offered. Schiano was Curries guy all along. Jon might have really wanted to come to UT but Currie was so focused on Schiano he didn't even consider Gruden. We will never know.

I am so furious at Jon Gruden and his lack of honor...he should be banished from ever being able to enter The Volunteer State unless he agrees to be tarred and feathered for being the chicken **** he is.

He doesn’t know half the **** he claims....he’s a coward.

We would have opened the check book and paid anything. At least do us the respect of saying flat out rather than playing cat and mouse games.

This program is approaching DANGEROUS levels of how difficult it’s going to be to come back, and Jon Gruden dug the hole a little bit deeper.

I mean, to OP’s credit, Gruden didn’t exactly come out and shut the rumors down. He actually antagonized the situation with his Seattle interview even mentioning Knoxville and Rocky Top.

So while a lot of you want to bash OP, he has a point.

Jon shouldn't have referenced Rocky Top on the Seattle radio station during this process and he could have been much more adamant that he wasn't going to coach while on Mike and Mike. He said things that got TN fans hopeful, myself included, and I feel like he played us a bit. Who knows but he knew the situation and how badly we wanted him so just don't say anything.
