I think Jon is going to bring his A-game Saturday and give a lot of you posters a good "shut the heck up." Last Saturday, aside from the fumble that Warren should have covered, he had a decent game against a solid SEC team. Again, several passes were missed by the receivers, one even hitting Hancock in the head. This kid has endured:

a. Four OCs
b. Parents who are too involved, probably adding too much presssure
c. An immature and hurtful fanbase
d. An idiotic media who continues to post false stories about him
e. Poor routes, and dropped balls

Saturday, I believe we will finally see the Jon Crompton that we expected when he came to Tennessee. I hope so, because this is a kid that has only done his best to be the quarterback of the University of Tennessee.

I hope you're right, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Better late (real, real late) than never, I suppose.

I could never wish him anything but the best for all he's dealt with. It is hard to imagine how much heartbreaking disappointment he's suffered.

That's one of the reasons I really can't understand the personal and vicious contempt that some posters seem to have here.

One thing to think about...JC has never played against Georgia (maybe not even a snap).

So maybe he just has a thing for UCLA, FL, Auburn, and Arkansas???

Also if JC does have a good performance and we can pull out the upset then that would do wonders for his confidence going into the bye week and bodes very well for the rest of the season!

what makes you think that? practice? something else you've seen? not tryin to be a jerk just curious.

Crompton IMHO has continued to get better with last week being his best week of the year throwing the ball. By the time he was 2/11, there had already been 4 or 5 drops of catchable balls.

The Crompton haters have tried to make a point with "the receivers just don't have confidence that he'll get it to them"... but just the opposite COULD have been true on Saturday. Yet he kept throwing it and they finally started catching it.

If the receivers catch the ball Saturday then JC will probably have a decent game... Maybe even good enough to keep UGA's O off the field and win the game.

Same for me and legions of other Vol fans who have endured countless Saturdays being disappointed with poor play and losses.

Its funny orangeblood, i was sitting here thinking the same. I have watched every game and jon isnt playing half as bad as the media and alot of vol fans are saying. He hasnt lit the world on fire but he, in my opinion hasnt stunk as bad either. Im pulling for jon, who else on the entire f-ball team would have stayed at tn after all the crap hes been through. My hat is off and i hope he kicks some major a$$ and becomes the QB everyone thought he would be. I think alot of folks forget how much they loved jon at the AA game when he was recruiting so hard for us as a senior coming out of H school.

honest assesments are not personal. By your mantra we should all have had a shot at playing qb for the Vols. Upward Bound SEC

Agree on the media---JC is ONLY the worst rated passer in D-1---stupid media. :)

Personally I wish nothing but success in life for JC after his playing days are over.

But even if JC came out and threw for 800 yards Saturday my assessment of his QB ability wouldn't change one bit. That game would be the outlier in a pool of poor performances.

I don't get it. Is there some impression that fans of a football team WANT their starting QB to play poorly? I'd love for him to play solidly on Sat and, don't let this shock you too much, I'm sure the overwhelming majority of people on here would too.

Look, some fans are just bashers. It's how they roll. It's not how I roll and think it's kinda classless but whatcha gonna do? Pointing out that Crompton has...umm...substantially underperfomed the fanbase's expectations is simply a demonstrable fact. Even his having a good game against GA does nothing to change that fact and in truth makes it all the more frustrating in a "where the hell has THAT guy been all this time" kinda way.

Look, Crompton, regardless of what he does Sat, has to this point not come close to acquitting himself as an SEC caliber QB. It's as simple as that. As for the abuse he's taken, well, it is a little sad. Crompton should have spent his career here getting his education while serving a backup role. With his talent he was never supposed to be out there taking the heat as a starter at UT to begin with regardless of what his high school accolades say.

I feel sorry for this kid. He does apparently bleed orange, unfortunately I think he just isn't very talented. But I do give him credit for staying in there. A lesser man would have hung it up by now. But as for him being solid on Saturday, probably not. And as for Stephens needing a chance to show what he can do in a game, again, probably not.

I agree. Sounds to me, though, that you just knocked on fans as being bashers and then said you were'nt, then said exactly what most "bashers" have been saying...me included
