Jon Crompton on Swain's show

I'm glad how things turned out for Jon's senior year, it was really redeeming and encouraging. I've never been a huge Fulmer defender, but I can't fault him at all for not sticking with Crompton during the '08 debacle. I don't think you guys remember how bad the UCLA, Florida, and Auburn games were. Auburn was maybe the worst game I have ever seen a starting QB play.

Did you listen to the interview Cromp did with Swain?
Were you smoking hippie lettuce when you were listening?
Fulmer should be held directly responsible! He was the one who decided to hire an oc who came in and completely confused snd scrambled the brains of our entire offense with the Clawson numbering system.
Go back and listen to the interview. Furthermore I do remember the ucla, fla, and auburn games were and after hearing Jon explain what was going on behind the scenes offensively that season i'm no longer surprised at all.

Clawson's offense takes time to install and/or intelligent players. It seems to work where he has had both, though.

Yep...unfortunately. I have heard from a UDub (Washington) alum that they wanted Wilcox really bad and threw $$$ at him. I suppose Hart/Dooley could not really give Wilcox a raise after we went 5-7, even if Dooley wanted him to stay.

Wilcox and Sirmon were not going to stay under any conditions after last year. Dooley lost his staff last year after he let Darick run the show at the end of the season. Why do you think that the receiver coach was the first to leave?

If the rumors are true, Wilcox wanted an extension and Hart wouldn't alow extensions for any assistant coaches - so a lot of them decided to leave.

If Jon Crompton would have gone and seen a sports psychologist...gotten the right meds to keep the football demonic voices out of his head....his career and our football team would have been really great.

It was all mental with that kid...physical tools were always there.

I disagree with this. My thinking is that the players on the Clawfense were uncertain about what they were doing, before and after the snap. Imagine being the QB in a situation like that, in front of a hundred thousand people, who were not always the best fans in the world. What good would a shrink do for someone in a situation like that?

20-26 in his 4th year.

I guess maybe the players at Bowling Green aren't intelligent?

They are 6-3 this season. Bowling Green is not exactly an academic powerhouse, either.

It is a complicated system. It takes time and/or intelligence; works best with both. Crompton was confused from day one.

People who are demanding Gruden, though, better understand that his system will be just as complicated (if nor more) than Clawson's and will require either time or intelligence (Bray definitely would not have the privilege of the former and I am not sure if he has enough of the latter).

Without really knowing, I felt that Darick seriously disaffected the coaches' authority and the team's chemistry. He spoke well in interviews and played well much of the time, but I suspect he created more problems than he was worth.
