OK, maybe I'm not thinking straight.
I need some confirmation from some of you PT or Dr. types out there.

She had thumb surgery that fixed a Ulnar Collateral Ligament??

The thumb is on the medial side and the ulna lateral?

Are there ligaments in the human hand that go all the way across?

I even looked in a 1954 Gray's Anatomy and couldn't find the attachment.

Help??

nm: I had a PT explain the weird nomenclature

Ulnar basically is a term to reference location.

It basically means that the ligament that is injured in the thumb is on the side closest to the rest of the fingers, which would also be towards the ulnar side anatomically speaking. This injury on the thumb would be at your knuckle closest to the fingernail.

If it were on the opposite of the thumb, or the outside of the thumb, it it be a radial collateral ligament.
