There were tons of former Vols that made the trek back home for the BattleAtBristol. Al Wilson, Peyton, and Coach Fulmer were just a few that I personally saw in attendance...Who was missing? Johnny Majors...now it's not a big deal really but I just thought it was a little strange that Coach Majors decided to travel to Pittsburgh to see them play Penn State instead of seeing one of the biggest games ever for his alma mater. Even though he was fired, I've never doubted for a second Phil Fulmer's allegiance and love for the Vols...sometimes I wonder about Coach Majors.

Johnny Majors is the epitome of a VFL! He was in Piitsburgh to reunite with the 1976 Pitt team he coached to a national championship...

Don't even go there...

Darn right he is! They were honoring his 1976 NC team.

OK I was wondering if it was something like that...I looked it up but didn't find anything...he did say that he will be at Neyland with teammates next week.

He had to return for the 40th reunion of that 1976 team. That was quite a team!

Will be around K-town & team for our next 13 victories this year.

I brought a 78 year old native Tennessean who loves to tell tales of the time he played against Johnny Majors in high school. This was only his 2nd Tennessee game

Coach Majors also visits Iowa St now and then where he got his first head coaching job...He loves Tennessee and always will...When I think of VFL I think of him.

There was some tension. The hatchet was buried. Coach Majors and his alter ego Johnny that was Heisman runner-up are both VFL certified.

Thank you for the flashback. I had forgotten that year was the OBS at Florida. I guess more fuel to the fire his hatred of UT.

I will never forget that game because it was my last game at Neyland attending as student. Spurrier was slamming the visor the whole second half which was so much fun to watch. If I remember correctly first half score was only 7-3 but then Dale Carter returned the second half kickoff for TD and the flood gates opened. If someone told me back then that UF would actually become our rival in football I would have never believed it. Back then it was all about Bama, Auburn, & UGA (I don't even think UF won a a single SEC title before Spurrier got there).

He was drunk and got on the wrong bus. Wound up in PA, decided to go to the game.

He's a drunk and may be a VFL but doesn't deserve much discussion.

You, sir, do not have a clue about your Vol history. What a piss-ass, ignorant, malicious post about one of the greatest football players ever for the University of Tennessee. Shame on you!!
