In 50 years... Which guy do you think will be remembered as the better musical artist?

Bob Dylan now, and 50 years from now. I'm probably a bigger Cash fan, but Dylan's writing ability is practically unrivaled, IMO.

Johnny Cash.

What is with the "blank vs. blank" threads? There are an endless number of them... Tom Cruise vs. Johnny Depp. Tom Cruise vs. Nicholas Cage. Tom Cruise vs. Leonardo Dicaprio. Tom Cruise vs. Arnold Scwartzeneger. Tom Cruise vs. Tom Hanks etc.

Why not just start a "Who's better" thread? It beats cluttering up the board with endless amounts of "blank vs. blank" threads. The Brad Pitt thread is just blatant trolling and clutter. Pretty sure the Papa Roach and Blink 182 thread was trolling as well. A lot of us really don't want to sift through that crap. Let people sift through your "Who's better?" thread if they care enough to. It's better than ruining the "Movies and Music" forum for everyone else. Doubt you really care though since it would require you to stop trolling...

Some of you are undervaluing Cash as a songwriter.

The " not even close crowd " hasn't a f@&king clue. Whether your saying Dylan or Cash.

50 years from now both will still be icons.

For the record, I'd rather listen to Cash.

I'm much more of a Cash fan and listen to him regularly. Dylan, although a legend, doesn't appeal to me. Cash gets my vote.

I'm with you in that I'd rather listen to Cash (but not by much). Cash is an underrated writer, but at the same time some of his best songs were written by others. Ring of Fire, Sunday Morning Coming Down (my favorite Cash song), etc.

Although, I've already said I prefer Dylan, you can't go wrong coming down on either side of this one.

I do like me some Johnny Cash, too.

Dylans impact is bigger now and he is still alive and making music. I don't think time is going to change anything.

I would wager that time will change him being alive and making music. JMO

First, why don't you attached polls to your "vs" threads? Second, if you are comparing one individual (e.g. Tom Cruise) to multiple people, just you a poll with greater than 2 choices.

Cash vs. Dylan? Personally, it's hard to choose, it depends on the type of mood I'm in what I listen to, I give a slight edge to Cash.... who will be *more* remembered 50 years from now? Dylan, I think he was more influential.

I respect Dylan but I really can't listen to a whole album of his. I've tried several times. He is a great song writer and I love a handfull of his tracks. Many of his songs are better when performed by others. Jimi Hendrix "All Along the Watchtower" blows Dylan's out of this cosmos.

I know I'm in the minority in this but I just never did buy in to Dylan like so many others.

Assuming it is because of his voice?
