I absolutely LOVED the ovation we gave John Ward at friday nights bball game. it was well deserved and i think any time this man stands up in a crowd he should be recognized and cheered for. It was incredible to hear 20 thousand people in TBA stand and cheer for the best play by play announcer to ever live!!!:clapping:

Two of the greatest college sports announcers are:
John Ward and Keith Jackson!

Question:

Was the ovation JUST for John Ward...or was it meant to showup the MC...Bob Kesling?

I thought the ovation might have lasted just a little too long.

Any thought on this? Was I misreading the crowd?

I understand everyone's problems with listening to Bob, but he takes far too much criticism b/c of his lack of talents. He IS a Vol.

How could a standing ovation for a guy, John Ward, that is being introduced to the crowd have anything to do with anybody else? And a standing ovation for John could never be too long, even if it lasted until the next day.

amen the announcers of today don't tell the story of the game the way he did I think it's because the announcers today grew up watching the games not listening to them.

I was at the game, made the same observations, and have the same questions.

Yeah
21,800 people all decided to simultaneous slight Bob Kessling and show him how much he sucks compared to John Ward by giving a long standing O to Ward.

How about this one from the Georgia game in the early 90's......"the snap is down...the kick is up....the crowd will tell ya....GOOOOODAH!!!!"

I did have somebody in my vicinity yelling, "Shut up, Bob!" As for a simultaneous slight, I'm not being accusatory, but the thought did enter my mind.
