John Palermo hired as DL coach

Because I heard $3 million was their top. In the shape things were in at the time, we needed to offer BIG bucks.

Who know's how much was offered. I heard considerably more was offered to an NFL coach. But I have no proof - doubt anyone does since I suspect no written offers were presented until an agreement was reached.

What's all the fussing about. Some of you out there act like you know more than someone who has coach for 30 years. Could it be he was coaching when some of you was still an itch in your daddys pants. Give the man a break. And the trolls love this site, Vol fans look over such D.A. people. For the trolls that do not know what DA is, its DunbA$$

Think we offered $6 mil...$8 mil ?

BOOM!

This guy coached Orakpo for the Skins... You do realize Orakpo is another word for "Sack"

That's it, I'm sold.... because obviously Orakpo's NFL success is 100% on Palermo and had nothing to do with his freakishly athletic abilities... which were also on display all throughout college buuuuut you're right, all the credit goes to Palermo. Makes sense.

There is probably some question about how much impact he will have recruiting. But in terms of coaching the defensive lineman, we probably could not have done any better. Top flight teacher.

Its a factual statement he has had to rebuild the two places he's been a head coach. La Tech rivals writer even said that he was given a very hard hand to deal with at La Tech and UT.

Some people get lost in the translation between statistics and facts. Data does not equal wisdom.

So the players make the coach, not the coach makes the players?

This guy was at ND for a year!!! Awesome. Then. He left for Austin Peay? Oh oh! He has head coach experience too! But he didn't win a single game. :( He also coached in the NFL for two years and then he downgraded to MTSU? Sounds like he has awesome interviews though.

Wanted to be closer to home... he's getting up there in age you know... but don't worry, he's all-in for the vols...

He can't win through your glasses even before he even oversees a single practice.

If he coaches unathletic players to high levels of production, you'd say he coached nobodies and that makes him worthless in the SEC.

If he coaches athletic players to high levels of production, you say he coaches athletic freaks of nature.

This act is tired.
