John Palermo hired as DL coach

You don't coach for 30+ years at programs like Miami, the Redskins, and Wisconsin without having a clue of what you're doing.

So is MTSU considered a football powerhouse?

No, but we just hired a defensive coordinator from the National Champions, not every single hire *has* to be in the NFL or SEC at their last position prior to coming to Tennessee to be a good coach. My point is we didn't hire a guy from a tiny school that has never proven a thing.

But the fact is he still hasn't successfully rebuilt anything. YOU could have coached last year's team to 5 wins.

Haha thats funny. We have had to start a freshman quarterback for the past 2 years. We lost our best offensive and defensive player. We started 4 true freshmen in positions you don't want them in.

We were projected a 6-6 team with Janzen, Bray, Hunter, and Lathers.

Well now. You guys complain that the O-Line didn't show last year against MTSU and now we have some reason to believe that maybe the MTSU D-Line knew what they were doing. I like this hire. All you guys going all Donald Trump here are all wet!

GBO!

You argue like Clay Travis. round and round

That guy actually makes some good points. He said we should take a dump truck full of money and go to the best coach in the country and make him turn it down. Then go to the second best and so on till one of the top coaches accepts the offer. He's not for hiring a HC from the WAC with a losing record either. Like everyone agrees, this is UT.

I like the hire but, I wonder if we took a look at Montana's and Buffalo's DL coaches as well.

Neither are the Washington Redskins, but if it's so easy to get a job there, then why haven't you taken your considerable talents there? A front office position where you have control over personnel decisions sounds right up your alley.

I'm not a trained chef but I can tell you when the food tastes bad.

Having a clue of what you’re doing and coaching at an elite level in the most powerful conference in the world at arguably the most important position are two completely different things.

NO ONE is saying the guy can't coach at a BCS qualifier conf. level. Whether he can coach in THIS league at THIS level is yet to be seen. Those claiming great hire have no clue what they're talking about because he's not proven anything at this level. He fills that position and that's about it IMO. Will he turn our DL unit into the next great thing? Maybe, but nothing on his resume suggests that enough to claim, "great hire".

Seems like Montana had a farily successful seasonl. I just remember the MTSU game as the one where we had the most disappointment with the O-Line. Can you provide the numbers for the the three games?
